By lokabandhu on Thu, 26 Sep, 2013 - 23:04Ashvajit, one of Sangharakshita’s carers, writes with his monthly update on Bhante’s diary for the past few weeks. He says -

“On 1st August there was a great burst of activity to get things ready for the Grand Opening of Adhisthana, Bhante’s new home. On 2nd 3rd and 4th of the month, the doors were thrown open, on the Friday to neighbours and all those who had assisted in any way in the refurbishing of the...

It was a very special gathering, being the first major event held at Adhisthana, Triratna’s beautiful new retreat centre near Malvern, UK.

She says - “The Triratna’s European Chairs’ Assembly met at Adhisthana for this historic gathering - the first ECA meeting at Bhante’s new home. It began with 5 days...

Young Women's Dharma Life Course 2014

By Munisha on Tue, 10 Sep, 2013 - 14:24Vidyatara writes from Adhisthana, UK, introducing the new Young Women’s Dharma Life Course, February - June 2014

Adhisthana is dedicated to teaching Sangharakshita’s presentation of the Dharma, faithful to the Buddha’s own teachings and honouring the best in all schools. In addition to running study retreats and colloquia for members of the Triratna Buddhist Order, we plan to provide five-month Dharma study and training courses primarily aimed at younger women and men who are either mitras...

Rainy Sunday walk in Coddington

By Munisha on Sun, 4 Aug, 2013 - 12:25This morning, around 11am, we saw the first arrivals at Adhisthana of about 250 Friends, mitras and Order members from all over Britain, and further afield, to add to those Order members who stayed on from yesterday. We also saw the arrival of torrential rain.

Just before the crowds arrived, I took a walk around the village, a mile (less than 2km) away. It’s a rural area and the village, with fewer than 100 residents, includes one or two...

Saturday's dedication shrine

By Munisha on Sat, 3 Aug, 2013 - 18:59Order members worldwide were invited to send very small Buddha rupas to be offered in today’s dedication ceremony. You can see them all here on the shrine designed by Vidyatara using very authentic local building materials! Bhante’s rupa is the tiny one in the large Buddha’s lap.

Some things are worth waiting for

By Munisha on Sat, 3 Aug, 2013 - 18:43Here’s Saturday’s lunch queue - and there are some other things that take a long time here in beautiful rural Herefordshire, where the internet access is some of the slowest in the country…

The challenge facing your faithful reporting team - Lokabandhu, Ivan Trujillo and me - is best summed up in a message that appeared on my computer screen this morning: “Downloading 6 files. 14 hours remaining.”

Adhisthana Launch Under Way!

By Munisha on Fri, 2 Aug, 2013 - 18:37The Adhisthana dedication weekend began today with an afternoon tea for invited local people. Over 80 people came to look around, listen to a talk by Sanghadeva and eat scones and cream.

They included former staff at the school for autistic children which occupied the house before us, local residents, and the last person to be born in the house before it was sold to an oil company.

Although there’s still much to be done, the...

Sangharakshita's Diary, July 2013

By Munisha on Sun, 28 Jul, 2013 - 02:00Ashvajit writes:
Summer has truly arrived at Adhisthana this month, and the wonderful Herefordshire trees all around here are in full leaf. Bhante’s health, though still not completely predictable, continues on an upward trend. He has been sitting outside more often, enjoying the warmth and the gentle breeze, noticing Sanghadeva working on the area in front of the Old House, or Yashodeva overseeing the transport of one of the Borobodur-style rupas to the large shrine room. He has even taken...

Adhisthana appeals for help in last push before opening

By lokabandhu on Wed, 24 Jul, 2013 - 11:21Danasamudra writes from Adhisthana, Triratna’s new retreat centre near Malvern, UK, where they’re preparing for their public opening on August 4th - and where they need as much help as they can get, as they approach the final stages of a major renovation project! She says -

“We would be very grateful if you would circulate this message as widely as possible within your Sangha. We do need help fairly urgently as there is...
