Triratna’s International Council: what they did in the summer holidays

By Munisha on Tue, 25 Oct, 2016 - 15:43

As we reported at the time, Triratna’s International Council met at Adhisthana in the first week of August.

Representatives of the Order, College and Movement from all over the world gathered to practise together – through shrine room activities and business. Their three themes were

  • World needs
  • Triratna’s System of Practice and
  • Unity and working with conflict

Over on the International Council space on The Buddhist Centre Online you’ll find Dhammarati’s very beautiful visual summary of the meeting.

Welcome to the 2016 Women's International Order Convention

By akasajoti on Sun, 21 Aug, 2016 - 23:55

Over the next week we’ll be offering as much live coverage as the Adhisthana bandwidth allows from the 2016 Women’s International Order Convention. Talks, mantras, podcasts, pictures, and videos, here on The Buddhist Centre Online.

Around 170 dharmacharinis from around the world have gathered here this evening for the convention, which opened with an introduction from Parami and a dedication ceremony in the shrine marquee. Over the week we will be dwelling with some of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas that Bhante Sangharakshita has introduced to the Order, through a programme of...

Day Three at the International Council 2016

By Munisha on Thu, 4 Aug, 2016 - 20:05

Today the Council looked at Triratna’s System of Practice.

The day began with collective practice of the Manjughosha stuti sadhana in front of Sangharakshita’s Manjughosha rupa which watches over the atrium of the Sangharakshita Library. (This is a visualisation meditation practice given to Sangharakshita by his teacher Jamyang Khyentse in October 1957.)

In the morning session, Dhammamegha presented the Sikkha Project, intended to deepen our understanding of what and how we practise and teach within the Triratna community, and develop an explicit shared framework to talk about it.

Listen to a recent 15 minute interview with Dhammarati...

•    Viveka (North America), on moving towards greater ethnic diversity in Triratna;
•    Yashosagar (India), on combatting poverty and discrimination, looking at the teachings of Dr Ambedkar.

All three...
