It’s been a fantastic day here at Adhisthana and I feel absolutely spoilt. I have to admit I’m a bit tired now and I’m still struggling with the wifi - but here is a little post to get a feel for the day….

Triratna50 at Adhisthana: we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Triratna Buddhist Community with an event over the weekend of the 8th and 9th of April.

There will be a mixture of talks, a workshop, a panel discussion with older and younger generations, Desert Island Discs, ritual, meditation, a new exhibition in the Sangharakshita Library and more.

We are looking for a new member of the community to work full-time in the kitchen. You will need to be either an Order Member or Mitra training for Ordination, with a serious interest in an intensive experience of community living and team-based right livelihood, who is inspired by the vision of Adhisthana and motivated to contribute generously. Experience of working in a kitchen is useful but not necessary as you will be trained.

Today the Council looked at Triratna’s System of Practice.

The day began with collective practice of the Manjughosha stuti sadhana in front of Sangharakshita’s Manjughosha rupa which watches over the atrium of the Sangharakshita Library. (This is a visualisation meditation practice given to Sangharakshita by his teacher Jamyang Khyentse in October 1957.)

In the morning session, Dhammamegha presented the Sikkha Project, intended to deepen our understanding of what and how we practise and teach within the Triratna community, and develop an explicit shared framework to talk about it.

European Chairs' Assembly winter meeting at Adhisthana

The Chairs of Triratna’s centres and other enterprises in Europe are meeting this week at Adhisthana, for the first of the European Chairs’ Assembly’s two annual meetings this year.

After reporting in and a very inspiring day studying the Pure Land Sutras with Ratnaguna, they are hard at work, looking at their attitudes to money, hearing presentations from selected centres (this week it’s Taraloka and Guhyaloka) and playing table tennis.
