Triratna Europe: a vision and strategy for 2015

By Munisha on Tue, 10 Feb, 2015 - 16:59At their January meeting at Adhisthana, Triratna’s European Chairs’ Assembly (ECA) agreed their vision and strategy for 2015.

Their vision for Triratna is summed up in one paragraph:

Triratna is an international Buddhist community loyal to
Sangharakshita’s vision, working in harmony and
sustained by spiritual friendship; dedicated to the
attainment of Enlightenment for the benefit of all beings.


Their strategy is based on the four lines of acceptance recited at ordination:

The Sangharakshita Library opens

By Munisha on Tue, 27 Jan, 2015 - 15:59Sunday 11th January saw the opening of the Sangharakshita Library at Adhisthana.

Hattie Johnson, of the Adhisthana team, writes: “About 80 people gathered to mark the opening of the Sangharakshita Library. Vajragupta welcomed us all and rejoiced in the many people who have brought the Library into being, particularly Ratnadharini, Ajjavin and Yashodeva.

Next year sees the start of events for those “Sub25”. European Triratna’s seventh annual Young Buddhist retreat – over six times the size of the first – took place in November, entitled “bigfuturebuddhanow”.

Over four days of talks they explored beauty and the dharma life; covering themes such as the ecstatic nature of the aesthetic moment, and the relationship of eros and beauty with spiritual death and the bodhicitta.

The Sangharakshita Library: books on shelves!

By Munisha on Sun, 26 Oct, 2014 - 00:50Sangharakshita recently visited his new library at Adhisthana, as his 11,000 books appeared on the shelves at last.

It’s hard to remember that the Adhisthana project began as the “SLP”: the Sangharakshita Library Project, a home for Bhante’s books. This gradually became the Sangharakshita Land Project: a long search for land and buildings for a retreat centre and library.

Ordination at Adhisthana, UK

By Munisha on Wed, 27 Aug, 2014 - 00:18Jill Vernon of the West Midlands Sangha, UK, was publicly ordained at Adhisthana on Monday 25th August.

She becomes Moksapuspa (dots under each ’s’ and long final ‘a’), which means in Sanskrit ‘She who is a flower of liberation’. The westernised spelling is Mokshapushpa. Her private preceptor was Suchitta and her public preceptor Parami.
