Transforming Self and World | Seminar

By hallykelly on Fri, 23 Jan, 2026 - 15:52

In 1976, Bhante Sangharakshita gave an important series of eight talks: Transformation of Life and World in the Sutra of Golden Light.

From the first talk we hear:

We can think of it, (the spiritual life) for example, in terms of transformation…

And many of us surely today feel the need for this kind of change, this very thorough, very radical profound change amounting to a transformation.

And not only that, we’re not only very often tired of the old self… We are tired of the old world as...

First Retreat for Italian Speakers

By Suvarnagarbha on Wed, 8 Oct, 2025 - 18:49

In September we held our first long weekend for Triratna Italian speakers at Adhiṣṭhāna. We had about 12 people on the retreat. Some flew from Italy and other parts of Italy to be with us. We enjoyed studying a passage from Sangharakshita translated into Italian and the retreatants very much enjoyed the chance to participate in Dharma discussion in their mother tongue. It was a very lively discussion group. We also did puja and rituals in Italian.

We hope that...

Science and Subjectivity Retreat

By hallykelly on Thu, 18 Sep, 2025 - 11:09

This seminar is for order members with a scientific background or an interest in science. We’ll have presentations from Munissara, Jnanadasa, Vaddhaka, and perhaps others; all have thought deeply about subjectivity from both Buddhist and scientific angles.

Munissara, a psychiatrist, explains methods for exploring the mind, which can even assess deep psychology and degrees of insight. Jnanadasa,...

Applications are now open for next year’s DharmaLife course for young men, which will run 8 March – 26 June 2026 at Adhisthana. Please do pass on the word and encourage interest from any young men and non-binary folk in your situation who might benefit from an intensive deep dive into the principles and practices of Triratna. It often has a life-changing effect on those who participate and benefits the local sanghas they return to. Thank you for any support you can offer.

New role available at Adhisthana

By Maitriyogini on Wed, 23 Jul, 2025 - 11:43

There are seven buildings that comprise Adhisthana’s indoor spaces, ranging in age from 30 to 230 years old. In our first decade these spaces have already hosted countless retreatants, pilgrims and visitors who come here to be inspired by Bhante Sangharakshita’s vision of the Dharma. They walk through our doors, hang out in the lounges, sit together in the shrine room, gaze out of the windows at the grounds, and before too long find themselves feeling at home. Adhisthana provides...
