Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s secretary. He writes from AdhisthanaUK:

As March draws to a close, and the clocks have sprung forward an hour, spring is poking its head up through the soil and swelling in buds on branches all around Adhisthana. Though we have had some terribly cold and snowy days there have also been some sunny ones, and when bright and dry if maybe not so warm, Bhante has taken what opportunities he could and enjoyed a morning walk...

‘Fifty Years, Fifty Voices’ is a project cooked up by Lokeshvara and Satyalila last year and supported by the Triratna Trust and Adhisthana Trustees. It’s gathering the ‘voices’ of 50 different Order Members on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Order.

Satyalila writes: “This year we’ll present extracts from these voices and the recordings will be archived in their entirety. In future we hope that many of them can be released as full-length podcasts...

Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s secretary. He writes from AdhisthanaUK:

“Coming to the end of February here at Adhisthana and the UK is gripped in a cold snap, which the media are calling the ‘Beast from the East’, while the ponds are frozen over and the garden is dusted in snow, Sanghadeva gets to take it easy, Yashodeva on the other hand is installing a new kitchen in the Dharma life course community, and a new tea...

5 Years of The Buddhist Centre Online: #2 Gathering Together in Large Numbers

Posted by Sadayasihi to Buddhist Centre Features on Wed, 28 Feb, 2018 - 16:37

The growth of the bhikkhus is to be expected, not their decline, bhikkhus, so long as they assemble frequently and in large numbers; meet and disperse peacefully and attend to the affairs of the Sangha in concord..

From the Maha-parinibbana Sutta

The Buddha elaborated on the conditions for the Sangha to prosper, one of which, as we see above, was for his disciples to gather in large numbers. Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna...

Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s secretary. He writes from AdhisthanaUK:

December
December is an unusual month here at Adhisthana, it becomes fairly quiet in the communities and quite a few people go away, either to see family or attend retreats. At the same time the centre swells and fills to capacity as the London Buddhist Centre holds its annual beginners winter retreat here. Bhante’s December largely followed a similar rhythm, being very quite with a slowing down...

Rainbows in the Sky - a new piece of writing by Sangharakshita

Posted by Sadayasihi to Community Highlights on Fri, 2 Feb, 2018 - 11:32

In this piece completed on 22 January 2018, Sangharakshita recalls rainbows from his childhood days through to his Going Forth in 1947 and most recently as appeared over Adhisthana on his ninetieth birthday. And he affirms the place of Padmasambhava - the Rainbow-bodied one - in the life of the Order from the very beginning, and explains that a remark he made in 2009 about a re-founding of the Order “can only be in...

“Civic spaces are an extension of the community. When they work well, they serve as a stage for our public lives. If they function in their true civic role, they can be the settings where celebrations are held, where exchanges both social and economic take place, where friends run into each other, and where cultures mix.” [1]

Since The Buddhist Centre officially launched 5 years ago many web spaces have sprung into being which allow greater community building across Triratna as...

Southampton's first centre - in a pub

The second weekend of September this year saw the opening of the well-established Southampton sangha (UK)’s first centre, in a disused pub, complete with intriguingly re-designed pub sign.

Chair Sudharshini tells us about the project and the redesign, created by architect Abhayanara, also responsible for the re-design of Adhisthana and Triratna’s Shrewsbury centre.

In Clear Vision’s latest NewsByte video Yashodeva tells the story of its creation and dedication, on 19th August at the UK and Ireland Area Order weekend.
