Two days ago I attended the public ordination of 16 women at Adhisthana. When Bhante chose the ‘miracle’ design of the stupa for Dhardo Rimpoche at Tiratanaloka, he said it was because the greatest miracle was Going for Refuge; it seemed especially miraculous to be having public ordinations, given the Covid 19 restrictions, with around 500 people joining the live zoom. I was on the balcony, above the flags and aware of the blessings of blue...
Steer to the Deep is a series of 2-hour seminars for Triratna Mitras and Order Members looking at some fascinating, core Dharma teachings.
Sagaramati has been studying, practicing and teaching the Dharma for almost 50 years. And this is a new kind of opportunity to enjoy and benefit from his wealth of knowledge, depth of reflection, and sparkling clarity! These are seminars that will also involve audience participation, with a chance to interact and ask questions.
At the recent Order convention Mahasraddha talked about how in recovering from a stroke it became clearer to him that relationships and the care that can flow through these was what was most important in his life. He sees the Abhayaratna Trust as responding to the myriad of conditions that are not within our control and that can show up the fragility of our seemingly secure financial situation. https://youtu.be/VadwrGP9dl0
Just wondering why responses are closed for Guhyavajra’s post? Or were they closed when the post was submitted? It would be handy to know as I imagine there might be some responses and I would be interested in them.

Anālayo has been writing about mindfulness as a scholar, practitioner and meditation teacher for two decades. In 2004 we published his ground-breaking study of the Satipaṭṭhāna Sutta based on his comparative studies of early Buddhist texts. He is one of a handful of people who can read and research texts in Pāli, Sanskrit and Chinese. It is a real delight when someone with...

This is a special online weekend lead by Padmavajra at Padmaloka on the Guru Yoga from the Tharpe Delam. Bhante was introduced to this practice by the Venerable Khachu Rinpoche at the time of receiving the Padmasambhava abhishekha. He made his own translation of the text with the help of Dhardo Rinpoche and introduced Padmavajra to the practice in 1976.
This Guru Yoga involves the transformation of ourselves into Vajrayogini - the archetypal devotee-disciple and then imagining...
For many years, ethical issues from Triratna’s past have affected the individuals who were involved and the Triratna Buddhist Order and Community as a whole, and a number of people have come forward with accounts of the suffering they experienced within Triratna. Some of these issues involved the sexual behaviour of Sangharakshita, Triratna’s founder.
The Adhisthana Kula arose from a wish to acknowledge openly and respond effectively to these issues. The members of the Kula worked together over the...
I am delighted to let you know the names of the 16 women publicly ordained at Adhisthana on Monday 28th September 2020. We were able to celebrate the ceremony outdoors in the Prajnaparamita courtyard which meant that, under Covid conditions, we didn’t need to wear masks. It was joyful to welcome these women into the Order, a positive day in a year which, for many, has been difficult.
