Day 6: Abingdon to Weald, 17 miles. Birdsong, Mantra and Sangha Connection… 🐦 🎶 ❤️

Ratnadharini writes:

Day off yesterday! Thanks to my 94 year old mum, who fed me, washed my clothes, and generously contributed to the fundraising (as did my sister). I’m buoyed up by all the support - financial and otherwise; this pilgrimage - and Tiratanaloka Unlimited - is clearly of interest to many. Thanks also to Akasajoti for making it possible for me to take you all with me!

By Caroline I P on Sun, 18 Jun, 2023 - 18:02

As part of Pilgrims Week at Adhisthana, we will be circumambulating around Sangharakshita’s burial mound for 108 continuous hours. You can turn in at any time and see who is currently circumambulating, day or night.

You may notice that if you tune in at night, you can’t see much! We are currently fundraising to install electric lights in the memorial garden, creating a mandala of light. Please do consider giving to enable this project.

You can see the full list of who is...

#PilgrimageUnlimited: Contribute to the future of women's ordinations... 🥳✨🧘‍♂️

By akasajoti on Sun, 18 Jun, 2023 - 01:40

Ratnadharini is at the half-way point of her 150 mile pilgrimage between the places of Sangharakshita’s birth and death; and, we have reached 70% of her fundraising target.

Having lived for 15 years at Tiratanaloka, before taking on the property search, purchase and renovation of Adhisthana, Tiratanaloka Unlimited is a project close to her heart. For the last three and a half years she has been serving our Order and Community as the Chair...

Communication, Friendship & Ordination - Autism & the Triratna Buddhist Community: Part Three

By Centre Team on Sat, 17 Jun, 2023 - 13:25

Continuing our series of conversations on the subject of autism within The Triratna Buddhist Community, we rejoin Ratnaguna and Prajnanandi for another episode, focusing this time on communication and the development of friendship.

With so much emphasis in our community on the importance of establishing deep spiritual friendships, Prajnanandi shares her experience of how building such relationships can present significant challenges for someone who is neurodiverse.

We also discuss the ordination process within the Triratna Buddhist Community and unpack why many neurodiverse practitioners may...

Day Five #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Wallingford to Abingdon

By akasajoti on Fri, 16 Jun, 2023 - 22:14

Day Five was a 13 mile stretch, of wildflowers and familiar landscapes, arriving (or rather, skipping…) into Ratnadharini’s hometown of Abingdon, where she is visiting her mum for a rest day tomorrow. At this halfway point, she reflects on the how supported she feels by the Sangha, and on the purpose of the whole thing: to support women’s ordination training in Triratna…🌼🎉🙏🏻

She writes:

Day five - Wallingford to Abingdon, 13 miles. Still hot, and route a bit more exposed. Entering familiar territory skirting...

Day Four #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Henley to Wallingford

By akasajoti on Thu, 15 Jun, 2023 - 22:09

Emergency provisions, flowering dog roses, and a pre-historic ridgeway through beech woodlands… 🪄🌹🦖🌳

Ratnadharini writes:

Day four - Henley to Wallingford; a mere 12.5 miles, mainly on beautiful tracks through beech woods. The final section was along the chalky Ridgeway path; I’m familiar with other sections, but not this one - which is accompanied by the prehistoric Grim’s Ditch. Forgot to bring lunch, so survived on emergency rations of peanuts and an energy bar - then came across a Church offering free tea and...

Day Three #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Windsor to Henley

By akasajoti on Wed, 14 Jun, 2023 - 23:39

Brambles, blisters and a kingfisher… 🌞🌸

She writes:

Windsor to Henley; 18 miles and the longest of the first 5 days, so a relief to have managed it. Thames path to Maidenhead, then I cut across to Henley on the Berkshire loop of the Chiltern Way and local footpaths (which meant bramble scratches and nettle stings). Henley-on-Thames is a pretty town, famous for the annual boat race.

Day Two #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Shepperton to Windsor

By akasajoti on Tue, 13 Jun, 2023 - 23:30

She writes:

Day Two: Shepperton to Windsor (although I’m actually staying across the bridge in Eton) - still following the Thames. ‘Only’ 14.5 miles, but it felt as strenuous as yesterday’s 17; so I’m nervous about tomorrow’s 18. I’ll start early, but there’s no avoiding the heat. I’ve got a great rain/sun hat, and am carrying lots of water. Really appreciate the video messages from friends!

I’ve walked past some stunning riverside properties, both ancient and modern, with a range of craft moored in...
