Day 6: Abingdon to Weald, 17 miles. Birdsong, Mantra and Sangha Connection... 🐦 🎶 ❤️

Day off yesterday! Thanks to my 94 year old mum, who fed me, washed my clothes, and generously contributed to the fundraising (as did my sister). I’m buoyed up by all the support - financial and otherwise; this pilgrimage - and Tiratanaloka Unlimited - is clearly of interest to many. Thanks also to Akasajoti for making it possible for me to take you all with me!
Day 6: Still threat of thunderstorms, in which case I should apparently distance myself from walking poles, and - if my hair stands on end - crouch down with my head between my knees!! (Fortunately there weren’t any.) A mixture of long grass and woodland, and then a section along the Isis (which is the other name for the upper reaches of the Thames). Regenerated marshland; had lunch in a convenient bird hide. Two guys painting an electricity pylon…
[ed: I lost count including Ratnadharini's rest day in the numbers by accident, so this is Day 6, not Day 7 as it says on the video!]
Thinking of the Buddha going forth to find the truth; Bhante instinctively going forth to follow in the Buddha’s footsteps; and being on pilgrimage having a touch of the same flavour, as it means living a simple life with a sense of purpose. Found myself chanting the Shakyamuni mantra as I walked, and then Green Tara.
