Subhuti in India: a documentary video from Mokshapriya

From Community Highlights on Thu, 28 Jan, 2016 - 11:52

Mokshapriya writes from India to announce the release of his documentary film, ‘Subhuti in India’, aimed particularly a Triratna audience outside India.

“Twice a year Subhuti leaves north Wales, UK, for India. His winter 2014/15 visit lasted 85 days, included 12 retreats and covered over 3,000 miles, from Bhaja in Maharashtra to Bodh Gaya, the place of the Buddha’s Enlightenment.

Going for Refuge and the Thunderous Silence: a young women’s weekend mitra retreat

“Going for Refuge is an experience - a spiritual experience - that is deepening and growing more multi-dimensional all the time.”
- Sangharakshita.

On this retreat we aim to explore going for refuge, and how it can lead us into a more direct, unmediated experience of the truth.

Led by Kusalasara, Shraddhasiddhi, Sraddhasara, Sujayini and

Birmingham Museum's new Buddhist display

From Triratna News on Wed, 27 Jan, 2016 - 09:41

Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery (BMAG), UK, launches its new Faith in Birmingham Gallery with a VIP event on 4th February.

The centrepiece will be the museum’s longstanding star, the Sultanganj Buddha, discovered by workers building a railway in India in 1862, but as Samacitta found, the museum’s collection features one or two more Buddhist surprises. She’s Chair of Triratna’s Birmingham Buddhist Centre.

“For the past year BMAG’s development of...

How to Approach Meditation

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Tue, 26 Jan, 2016 - 05:19

It is being used by a raft of practitioners including corporate trainers, health care workers, psychologists and anyone who cares to hang out a shingle...

A Progress Report
For the past year we’ve been consulting all of the partners on The Buddhist Centre Online project - garnering feedback that will help us build version 2 of the website. It’s great to have clear data after 3 years of use - and, as it turns out, very consistent responses too!

Ashokashri appointed as a public preceptor

From College of Public Preceptors on Fri, 22 Jan, 2016 - 15:02

Ashokashri found the movement in 1977, having discovered she was a Buddhist and starting to meditate a few months before. She was ordained by Bhante Urgyen Sangharakshita at Padmaloka in 1980. For the next 7 years she lived in a women’s community, worked in the team-based livelihood (a café and shop) and taught at the Croydon Buddhist Centre.
