Triratna translations bonanza!

From Triratna News on Mon, 13 Mar, 2017 - 10:06

Suvannavira is a member of the Triratna Translations Board and lives in Moscow.

He writes:

The Triratna Translations Board came into existence at the end of 2015, to promote and co-ordinate translations and publications projects. One of our tasks has been to administer funds made available for translations by Bhante Sangharakshita, following his hugely successful 90th birthday appeal in 2015.

Of the £30,000 given for translating his books, £5,000 went to projects in India and the remaining £25,000 was given to projects elsewhere in the...

New Sunday Series: A Path with Heart

From Portsmouth Buddhist Center on Thu, 9 Mar, 2017 - 15:57

A spiritual journey is marked by movement from one state of being to another. How do we traverse this path? What does ours look like? A straight line to the mountain top, or a meandering wander around the base of the mountain with a slow incline?

Join us, as over the next eight Sunday mornings, 10AM - 12:30, we delve into our understanding and experience of the spiritual path we have embarked upon.  This week, March 12, Dh. Viriyalila will lead us...

"In a Room with Four White Walls"

From Croydon Buddhist Centre on Mon, 6 Mar, 2017 - 09:57

Bouncing into week 6, we can really see so much of our vision coming together. Underlying strengthening of walls, running cables, creating more space and more light. This week saw our intrepid workers starting on plastering the new walls in the shrine room. Beautiful new doors and windows appeared, bringing light back into a dusty work space, including the lovely addition of an atrium window. Reception walls are being insulated inside and out, external walls being rendered and clad. The...

Women, Men and Angels: A Personal Statement by Subhuti

From Adhisthana Kula on Fri, 3 Mar, 2017 - 14:07

Introduction by Parami
In 1994, a book called ‘Women, Men and Angels’ was published, with the subtitle: ‘An Inquiry into the Relative Spiritual Aptitudes of Men and Women’. It was written by Subhuti, a senior Triratna Order Member, with the intention of elaborating on an impression or ‘idea’ that had originally come from Sangharakshita. While I am sure this was not Subhuti’s intention, the book had a painful effect on many people – especially women – even causing some to...

The Observer interview: what I really said, by Munisha (Triratna Safeguarding officer)

From Triratna News on Thu, 2 Mar, 2017 - 17:34

As you may know, Triratna featured in the British newspaper The Observer on Sunday 19th February 2017, in an article referring to allegations of sexual misconduct in the FWBO in the 1970s and 80s.

As the person interviewed for the article, I thought I’d explain how this came about and what I actually said; in several places the article was misleading or quoted me inaccurately.

On 8th February a journalist emailed Adhisthana:

“Hi. I’m a journalist writing about what is going on within...

Sangharakshita's diary

From Triratna News on Thu, 2 Mar, 2017 - 14:43

Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s secretary. He writes:

“As this short month of February comes to a close here at Adhisthana it’s clear the seasonal battle between summer and winter is on. We have enjoyed a few delightful days of blue skies and warm sunshine as the snowdrops blossom all around the hills, but the winds have howled too! The rain has lashed the window panes on more than one side of the building and the temperature has fluctuated. Nonetheless...
