The Chairs of Triratna’s centres and other enterprises in Europe are meeting this week at Adhisthana, for the first of the European Chairs’ Assembly’s two annual meetings this year.

After reporting in and a very inspiring day studying the Pure Land Sutras with Ratnaguna, they are hard at work, looking at their attitudes to money, hearing presentations from selected centres (this week it’s Taraloka and Guhyaloka) and playing table tennis.

They’ve also had a presentations on the Young Buddhist project, using news media to promote...

The young Buddhists: Triratna's secret

By Munisha on Thu, 17 Dec, 2015 - 18:55

Presenting Triratna to the European Buddhist Union meeting in Berlin in September, I mentioned Triratna’s recent success in attracting more young people. With most sanghas ageing, people wanted to know our secret.

One answer is that we appointed a Young Buddhist co-ordinator to encourage young Buddhist activities and help other young Buddhists develop the confidence to lead.

Prajnaketu is the new, full-time Young Buddhist Co-ordinator appointed to the Development Team who work for Triratna’s European Chairs’ Assembly. He...

Following the US Dharma Teacher Gathering, Bodhipaksa, Singhashri, Vidyamala and Vimalasara travelled on to the ‘Gen X’ gathering, 6th-10th June, at Dharma Drum Retreat Centre in New York State. This was a meeting for Dharma teachers born between 1960 and 1980.

They were joined by Padmadharini, making the Triratna team an internationally diverse (if Anglophone) bunch: Bodhipaksha and Padmadharini are British, living in the US: Singhashri is American, living in the UK; Vidyamala is a...

Live Web Talk - Getting Radical, Then And Now

By Rijupatha on Sun, 31 May, 2015 - 17:10

Our new North American Young Buddhists sangha will be taking part with all our sisters and brothers around the world in the International Young Buddhists Weekend from June 5-7th. We’ll be running our first ever event over the Saturday and Sunday and we wanted to share something with everyone who has inspired us to come together in this way.

So we’ve arranged for Parami (who is visiting the U.S. at present) to offer a live web talk and conversation. One of the most experienced...

Retreat for young Dharmacharinis and women training for Ordination

By vajratara on Tue, 26 May, 2015 - 11:59

A weekend for young women exploring Buddhism in the modern world. What world is Buddhism entering into, and how will your choices now effect that world in the future? Ratnadharini and Padmasuri, both Public Preceptors, will be joining us, so it is a chance to meet them too.

Young means under 40 in this instance (basically so that Karunadhi and Vajratara can still come!) and the cost is £85/ £105/ £140, but we have a bursary fund if you can’t afford...

This retreat is the first of it’s kind and an exciting opportunity for those 25 and under to come together; to build friendships and explore what Buddhism has to say about life’s big questions and how to live a meaningful life.

We will be looking at Sangharakshita’s teachings on the Greater Mandala of Aesthetic Appreciation; exploring beauty in the spiritual life and how we can live aligned with our deepest values.

The retreat will be led by Order Members and Mitras who are under...
