London Buddhist Centre's BAM plans

By Munisha on Tue, 20 May, 2014 - 13:41Su Yen writes from the London Buddhist Centre about their plans for BAM next month.

“Atula, Srivati, Amalavajra and others will be giving talks on Fridays in June, talking about beneficial activity in the local community and the world. We will also be showing films most Saturday nights. There may also be other activities, like helping in local food gardens and so on.”

BAM 2014 plans take shape across Triratna

By lokabandhu on Fri, 2 May, 2014 - 06:14BAM 2014 - Buddhist Action Month 2014 - begins in just one month’s time, with Buddhist groups across the country encouraged to spend June engaged in collective actions for the benefit of others, especially ones benefiting the environment or society. This year there is a special emphasis on addressing climate change and our many habits and patterns that perpetuate it.

Possible BAM funding?

By Munisha on Mon, 17 Mar, 2014 - 14:10Together in Service is a government programme offering funding to faith groups in England for social action projects involving two or more faiths.

You can apply all through this year, until the money runs out, but the next funding deadline is 29th May.

Briefing meetings on how to apply are being held in Birmingham, Newcastle, Bristol, Leicester, Manchester & London shortly.

Here’s a great list of 20 suggested actions Buddhist Centres and Sanghas can take if they want to be part of BAM 2014. More details for each are given in the notes at the end. Other suggestions welcome too of course!

We’ve divided the list into two parts - “Game-changing Actions” (which will make a real contribution, hopefully ongoingly) and “Symbolic Actions” (which are primarily awareness-raising - a crucial first step of course)
