Welcome to Triratna Translations

Welcome to the home page of The Triratna Translations Project.

Many of Sangharakshita’s core books and also some of his main disciples have been translated into a range of languages over the years – but currently, this project has gained a lot of momentum and the International Triratna Translations Board (ITTB) is putting a lot of energy into this work. Watch this space!

One thing that has already happened is an effort to translate the main rituals and ceremonies used in the Triratna Buddhist Community into as many of the world’s languages as possible. That’s an ambitious project, but we’re a worldwide community and between us we are probably in touch with all the people we need to make it happen!

We’ll be working in language-based groups – see below for the ones we’ve created so far, and please do join any you are interested in. The aim is to translate the same groups of texts into all languages: The Dedication Ceremony, The Refuges and Precepts, The Threefold Puja. If you want further information on a language or Triratna’s presence in a specific country, there should be a link to their main website.

In time we may go on to introductions to the Mindfulness of Breathing and Metta Bhavana meditations, also basic Buddhism and an introduction to the Triratna Buddhist Community and how it works. After that comes a follow-on project to collect recordings of all the above spoken or chanted by native speakers – please let us know if you’d like to contribute to that.
Here’s what we’ve got so far:
