By akasajoti on Fri, 30 Aug, 2024 - 14:43

The Preceptors’ College is recruiting…

We are looking for an Order Member to join us some time between December – February to replace Akasajoti who has been the College Assistant for the last five years. This first role we are recruiting for will hold primary responsibility for the Preceptors’ College and play a supporting role with the International Council.

We’re also keen to hear from anyone who might be interested in joining the team in the future. We intend to recruit a second executive...

Chair's Letter – July

By Kulanandi on Thu, 1 Aug, 2024 - 11:03

Dear Order Members and Friends,

I have just returned home from two Ordination Retreats. The first one was the long Ordination Retreat in Akashavana, Spain, where 19 fine women were ordained. The second one was much shorter in our Retreat Centre here in Vimaladhatu, Germany. It was for Utpaladaya who cannot physically manage the terrain at Akashavana and works as a teacher with limited holiday time. Both retreats were a source of joy and inspiration.

Akasasuri,...

Chair's Letter – May 2024

By ratnadharini on Sat, 1 Jun, 2024 - 17:46

Dear Order Members and friends,

Thanks to Purna for his evocative letter last month from Sudarshanaloka, the ‘land of beautiful vision’, in New Zealand; I’m very much looking forward to being there for the first time in a few months.

A few weeks ago I was at another of our retreat centres: Akashavana, ‘the forest retreat of luminous space’, in Spain. It was an informal visit as I hadn’t been there for many years and wanted to connect with the...

Chair's Letter – February 2024

By Vajrashura on Thu, 29 Feb, 2024 - 23:59

This month’s letter is written by Vajrashura, who first came across Triratna in Ireland, in 1999, at the age of 22. He was ordained in 2007 in Guhyaloka by Kulananda, and since 2009 has been the men’s Mitra Convenor for Dublin where he lives in a men’s community. He now also works for the Sikkha Project on a part-time basis and joined the College in 2020.

Hear more from Vajrashura in a talk he gave on Sadhana, White Tara and...

Chair's Letter – January 2024

By ratnadharini on Wed, 31 Jan, 2024 - 20:00

Dear Order members and friends,

December and January were relatively quiet months for me. Zoom meetings and emails tend to ease up over the festive season and I was able to spend two weeks in Wales doing house repairs and having some time to myself as well as catching up with family; it was my mother’s 95th birthday in early January.

The women’s Area Order weekend back at the beginning of December – which is traditionally...

Chair's Letter – October 2023

By ratnadharini on Wed, 1 Nov, 2023 - 13:00

Dear Order Members and friends,

I’m writing from Mexico, where preparations are underway for the Day of the Dead celebrations, and on the fifth anniversary of Sangharakshita’s death. I’m here for the fourth Pan American Convention, which is taking place in a Benedictine monastery on the outskirts of Cuernavaca as Chintamani retreat centre is unfortunately too small for the nearly 100 or so attendees. There are Order members from Canada, in the north, to Argentina, in the south...

Chair's Letter – September 2023

By ratnadharini on Sun, 1 Oct, 2023 - 00:00

Dear Order Members and friends,

As I write, the public ordinations of five women – two from Venezuela and three from Mexico – are taking place at Adhisthana in context of pilgrimage retreat for Spanish speakers; welcome to Varamaitri, Akasadhi, Silabhadri, Parashanti and Chandrakanti. The theme of pilgrimage has been growing, as Adhisthana celebrates its tenth anniversary. Parami invited me to join the retreat one evening for an informal conversation about the search for, and early days at, Adhisthana, and...

Chair's Letter – March 2023

By ratnadharini on Fri, 31 Mar, 2023 - 12:02

Dear Order members and friends,

Thanks to Maitreyabandhu for the evocative account of our network of friendships last month.

First I’ll write with an update from the March College meeting – and end with a personal request.

At that point last month, I was involved in our annual Women Preceptors’ retreat at Adhisthana, which gets better each year as the body of experience grows and the connections between us become stronger. We’d decided to make it an ‘in person’ event, while making the study...
