Compassion In Action is our new community space for the ongoing sharing that started life as ‘Beyond BAM’ (‘Beyond Buddhist Action Month’)!
Essentially, this space is about metta: the quality of unconditional loving-kindness, a key value in our Triratna community as it is in all Buddhist traditions. The Triratna Buddhist Community aims to be a force for the good in the world, and all we do is dedicated to benefiting...
Some lovely, personal notes on the core practice in the Brahma Viharas sequence - the cultivation of loving kindness (metta), which is said to glow, shine and blaze forth like the sun… From Rumi and Subhuti to the Itivuttaka, we hear about how love transforms both self and world in ways extraordinary and everyday.
The short guided meditation and initial notes are by Ratnavandana. The main talk is by Jvalamalini.
There is good reason to believe, intuitively at least if not on the basis of hard evidence, that the very nature of consciousness is a well-spring of loving kindness. It is said that the very quality of Buddha Nature is that of inexhaustible love, and it is already there.

This day of study, reflection and ritual will explore the richness of the Karaniya Metta Sutta, the Buddha’s discourse on universal loving kindness. In particular, we’ll examine how can we make this teaching more relevant to our everyday lives and to our engagement in the world. Open to all.
Led by Khemasuri and Suddhacandika with support from Karaniya Metta Kula. Please bring a veggie lunch to share.
