There is an aliveness and awakeness that we can recognise at any moment. It’s an openness to our full being - in body, senses and awareness. It points to what we really are, outside of conceptual fabrications. In recognising and opening to a spacious yet embodied presence, here and now, we may discover a timeless awareness-emptiness that is inseparable from loving, compassionate energy.
We’ll explore all this through sitting meditation, experiential ‘lookings’ and by discovering our own direct...

On the 2018 Triratna Buddhist Order Convention at the traditional seat of the Buddha’s Enlightenment, Dharmachari Purna leads the assembled men’s wing of the Order in a traditional practice of recollecting the Buddha, with a special emphasis of his presence under the Bodhi tree itself.
Our next four-week introductory course will focus on meditation within a Buddhist framework. Dh. Suddhayu will teach two traditional meditations, mindfulness of breathing and cultivation of loving kindness, placing them in the context of the Buddha’s teaching. Together these practices and teachings hold the key to shifting our minds toward greater capacity to dwell in the present and a larger field of kindness towards ourselves and others.

In August 2017 at Adhisthana, Vessantara continued his exploration of our mandala of spiritual practice with a second, deeper look at Spiritual Receptivity. This retreat focused on Just Sitting, a practice in which we’re open to the whole of our experience which forms a vital balance to structured practice, and is also the centre of the meditative mandala, where everything culminates in an experience which Sangharakshita describes as ‘existential relaxation’.
In this series of sessions, Vessantara weaves input around guided...

We’d like to share some moving words from a group of readers we have had for years now. On request, our Publishing Controller Michelle sends free Windhorse Publications books and written replies to prisoners. The gratitude with which they receive them is touching. These books and letters enhance their lives, and in a place where there is a lot of time for reflection, they can find greater self awareness and understanding through the Dharma.
An outstanding series of talks by Subhuti on the theme of Sadhana during the Manjughosa Stuti Sadhana retreat at Adhisthana in 2017.
Over the course of six talks he articulates the stages we traverse in the practice of sadhana, which correspond to the stages of the system of practice - Reverence, Solidarity, Wise Attention, The Illumined Image, Dwelling in Reality and Dedication.
Once again, we will hold our Sunday gathering in the fresh air of Goodwin Park. This week we continue our focus on the historical Buddha, as we launch a new Sunday topic: If the Buddha Lived in Portsmouth.

Each week we will look at a story about the Buddha’s life and what it says about the kind of person he was. We will also consider the relevance of...
