To coincide with the International Conventions, the India Dhamma Trust is arranging a special pilgrimage for Order members and Mitras who wish to gain a living experience of the unity of Triratna.

From the heartlands of Ancient Buddhism, order members and mitras will follow itineraries that attend the Order or Mitra conventions at Bodh Gaya, and take in the traditional pilgrimage sites of Shravasti, Kusinara, Lumbini, Vaishali and Sarnath, before combining to travel to Nagpur to explore Triratna...

On this day 60 years ago – 14th October 1956 - the great Indian social reformer Dr BR Ambedkar converted to Buddhism. 

Sangharakshita worked with Dr Ambedkar’s followers for many years. So to mark this very significant anniversary, The Buddhist Centre Online launches today a new multimedia space “Dr Ambedkar and Sangharakshita: Bringing Buddhism back to India”.

Today was devoted to looking at our relationship with a suffering world and how we might meet its needs as a community.

The morning saw short but heartfelt talks from 
•    Akuppa (UK), on climate change and the effect it is already having, including its relationship to refugee crises;
•    Viveka (North America), on moving towards greater ethnic diversity in Triratna;
•    Yashosagar (India), on combatting poverty and discrimination, looking at the teachings of Dr Ambedkar.

The International Council’s first full day started with meditation, ritual, lively breakfast conversation and introductions from around the world.

The Council’s membership spans six Areas: Spain & Latin America, India, North America, Mainland Europe, the UK & Ireland and Australia & New Zealand. These in turn are subdivided into Regions, to enable consultation across the Order.
