BAM is, in essence, a celebration of our aspiration - and the Dharma’s power - to change the world for the better. Here’s a great list of 20 suggested actions Buddhist Centres and Sanghas can take if they want to be part of BAM 2014. More details for each are given in the notes at the end. Other suggestions welcome too of course!

We’ve divided the list into two parts - “Game-changing Actions” (which will make a real contribution, hopefully ongoingly) and “Symbolic Actions” (which are primarily awareness-raising - a crucial first step of course)

July 2012 saw the UK’s first Buddhist Action Day (BAD), with the environmental theme Earthkind. It was such a success, the NBO decided to make it last a whole month this year and repeat the theme...

July is Buddhist Action Month UK

July is Buddhist Action Month in Britain. Centred on the festival of Dharma Day, this year’s theme is Earthkind: caring for the Environment. Across the country, Buddhists and others will be guerrilla-gardening, litter-picking, tree-planting and lots of other things.

Buddhist Action Month is coming!

By Munisha on Wed, 22 May, 2013 - 14:06July sees the UK’s second annual Buddhist Action Month, with the environmental theme Earthkind.

Earthkind is a great opportunity for Buddhists of all traditions to get together and volunteer for the good of their local communities.

Centred on the festival of Dharma Day, BAM:Earthkind promotes local actions on environmental themes: organise a talk, a neighbourhood litter-pick, a tree planting, a nature walk or whatever else you can think of!
