HERVE PRECIOSO

Grateful

Tue, 13 Nov, 2018 - 13:10[edit]

What I found most fascinating with Bhante Urgyen Sangharakshita are his unique ways to draw one to Dharma thru his example and his recounting Dharma. Bhante displays a thirst for more, better, purer Dharma, never content with his achievements until he reaches the path of no more learning.

His expounding Dharma is marvelously musical, sharp, insightful, of an inexpressible flavor. The complete set of Dharma teachings are encompassed in his vision.

GBC Protection Policies and Ethical Guidelines

From Glasgow Buddhist Centre on Tue, 13 Nov, 2018 - 08:12

Our Adult Protection Policy & Child Protection Policy

(Please note that in Scotland the term ‘protection’ is used instead of ‘safeguarding’. We occasionally use the word safeguarding if its usage helps the meaning be a little clearer.)

Our Ethical Guidelines

Like our Protection policies, it expresses our commitment to the 5 Ethical Precepts, and outlines how they are practiced.

Sangharakshita my first and last encounter

Mon, 12 Nov, 2018 - 14:55[edit]

I am incredibly happy that I got the chance to meet with Sangharakshita in person at Adhistana in April 2018. He was so kind and present and knowledgeable, so the conversation was easy. When he understood I was a gemmologist, he took out some stones and made me choose one. I still have it in my purse….

I was in India when the news of his death reached me and I felt he was with me on the yoga mat every morning the following days.

At our meeting I could also feel his mild sense of humour when I was teaching him a little about the stones we were looking at;

poem by Subhadassi

From Sangharakshita Memorial Space on Mon, 12 Nov, 2018 - 11:57

Hello beings

I have been trying to absorb (or meet?) my time at Adhistana on Friday and Saturday. It was such a beautiful, and cold (!), event, with the rain largely stopping and the sun coming through as we progressed through the metta bhavana.

Anyway, as well as writing a shabda report today after I’d got the kids off to school, I wrote a poem, which I thought I’d share.

With love from Sussex.

For all you gave, Bhante

For all you gave, Bhante

From Sangharakshita Memorial Space on Mon, 12 Nov, 2018 - 08:53

Namo Bhante, Guru Urgyen Sangharakshita

You opened up the meaning of what it is to be human, vast horizons of possibility. I will be for ever grateful for the beauty of the vision that you shared with us.

You showed us by example that it is possible to live from Sraddha, and gave us the teachings, practices, inspiration and means to do that. Above all perhaps, you gave us the courage. I am for ever grateful, and bow deep to you for the life you led as I follow that same...

Sangharakshita Foresees His Death

From Sangharakshita Memorial Space on Sun, 11 Nov, 2018 - 14:37

At Sangharakshita’s funeral the Adhisthana trees were filled with golden leaves and the cosmos still flowered burgundy and pink in the formal gardens. The weather changed from a chill breeze to warm sunshine, and heavy rain showers slowly gave way to clear skies stirred with barred clouds, turning ochre in the fading light. It was an autumn scene and filled, for me, with the evocations of autumn when the year declines towards winter, with all its intimations of mortality.

In the 1970s Sangharakshita...
