Buddhist Film Nights in Hastings

From Triratna News on Wed, 4 Mar, 2020 - 11:00

Chris McKenna is a mitra practicing with the Hastings sangha on the south coast of England. Five years ago, after discussion with friends, Chris approached the local independent cinema - The Electric Palace - about the possibility of showing regular screenings of films that would be of interest to the local Buddhist community.

Initially the cinema was reluctant and asked if he could guarantee that twenty five of the fifty seats would be filled. Obviously he couldn’t...

Building Buddhist Businesses

From Triratna News on Mon, 2 Mar, 2020 - 16:39

Right Livelihood is an important aspect of the Buddha’s Noble Eightfold Path. The Buddha encouraged his followers to engage in compassionate activity, and to make their living in a way that does not cause harm and that is ethically positive. But what does that look like in today’s world? How do we engage with work as Buddhists, and what are the options if you want to work with other Buddhists? The idea behind the “Building a Buddhist Business” workshop held recently at the London Buddhist Centre...

Après plusieurs collectes de fonds et un travail acharné de la part de nombreuses personnes, et en particulier de Vassika, le nouveau Centre bouddhiste Triratna de Paris a été...

Agua (Water): A Day in the Life of Suryavana

From Suryavana Retreat Centre on Mon, 9 Mar, 2020 - 14:06

As Suryavana is completely “off-grid” in every sence; water, wastewater, electricity., which we produce our own via solar panels and recycling organic/inorganic materials; every couple weeks we take a ride up in the van to a famous spring at Bejis (about 40 minute ride) which distributes bottled water for the whole region. Very popular in Valencia. Enjoy my video project for the morning spent doing the round trip- Sudaka

Dharmabyte: The Vajra: Two Meanings in One

From Free Buddhist Audio on Mon, 9 Mar, 2020 - 13:00

Jvalamalini looks at the importance of clarity of purpose for simplicity and meaning in life, and the powerful symbol of the vajra. This diamond-thunderbolt symbol is really more about integration then it is about powering through obstacles regardless of what the rest of our being is up to.

From the talk entitled Vajra: Symbol of Integration given at...

Surrendering the Self

From London Buddhist Centre on Mon, 9 Mar, 2020 - 00:00
Tantric Buddhism is concerned with the direct experience of who we are and what we can become. Its aim is to help us realize our potential by transforming the energy locked in by old habits, fears, and views. This experience cannot be mediated by concepts; it needs to be evoked with the help of symbols.
