Death of Ratnachuda

Ratnachuda died peacefully on Wednesday 25th June in the late afternoon. His wife Amarapuspa and daughters Katharine and Sarah were present at his death. He was 81 years old.

Ratnachuda lived in Crystal Palace, South London for the last twenty years. He was ordained in 1995. His private and public preceptor was Sona. His yidam was Akshobya. He also had a strong connection with Shinran,  Pure Land Buddhism and the Namo Amida Bhutsu mantra.

Death of Gunapala

Gunapala passed away peacefully at home in Alves, near Elgin in the Scottish Highlands, on Monday 23rd June, aged 70. His wife, Maitrihridaya, was by his side.

Gunapala was born on 16th November 1954 in Otorohanga, New Zealand.  He first met Bhante in Auckland in 1975, aged 20, and soon joined the first men’s community there. In 1979, inspired by Sangharakshita’s second visit, he moved to London, living at Sukhavati and working with Friends Building Service. His Dharma...
