On Sangha Day, November 13, 2016, we welcomed 4 new mitras into the Triratna mitra community at the Cuernavaca Buddhist Centre in the context of a Sevenfold puja. These fine people are:

An opportunity to live and work at Adhisthana

We are looking for a new member of the community to work full-time in the kitchen. You will need to be either an Order Member or Mitra training for Ordination, with a serious interest in an intensive experience of community living and team-based right livelihood, who is inspired by the vision of Adhisthana and motivated to contribute generously. Experience of working in a kitchen is useful but not necessary as you will be trained.

Last Friday, seven of the nine core members of the ‘Fellowship of the Book’ assembled at the Cambridge Buddhist Centre. Our quest: to bring The Complete Works of Sangharakshita into existence. In keeping with The Lord of the Rings reference, our motto for the day was:

One book to be read by all
One book to find them
One book to bring them all
And in the light to mind them

To really help someone

Lokeshvara, one of the two International Convenors of the Buddhist Order I belong to gave a talk at the Sydney Buddhist Centre on Saturday just past. Amongst other things he talked about how we help each other. The main point I took away from this was that to really help someone is a complex task requiring great wisdom.

And I agreed with this. To really know what another person needs rather than imposing our own projections onto them is...

Do they seem special or ordinary to you? Anything stand out?

They are all giving to FutureDharma Fund. Some of them give a monthly donation, some have given a larger one-off gift, made us a loan or put FutureDharma Fund in their Will. In a way, quite ordinary things to do. But also special, because all of our donors have thought carefully about what effect they want their money to have in the world.
