“Wow, it’s amazing what you have achieved in 5 years! So many gems have come my way through Buddhist Centre Online. My life and practice has been enhanced by many talks, recommendations for books, reading stories of people’s lives and visuals of places and events. From Australia I feel more fully connected to this world wide movement largely via [The Buddhist Centre Online]. Sadhu sadhu sadhu and happy birthday!” - Maitripala
As part of the celebrations around the 50th anniversary of the Triratna Order, Windhorse Publications will release four new volumes of The Complete Works of Sangharakshita in early April.
The Complete Works include all previously published work by Sangharakshita, as well as talks, seminars and writings published for the first time. This collection represents the definitive edition of his life’s work as a Buddhist writer and teacher.
Over the next week or so we’ll be offering online coverage from the 50th Anniversary Order Convention from Bodhgaya, India.
Most of the Convention will be public, and (the internet gods permitting!) we’ll share content – talks, mantras, podcasts, pictures, videos, livestreams – on The Buddhist Centre Online, and around our social media channels.
We’ll be getting things underway with a live stream of Public Ordinations that will take place on Saturday under the Bodhi tree at the Mahabodhi temple, commemorating the spot where Buddha is said...
I want to begin to experiment with telling the stories of some of the events happening at Adhisthana – I want Adhisthana to be able to reach out all over the Triratna world across oceans and borders, and I want it to be a source of inspiration and positivity in the world and in this community. So over this week I’ll be on a retreat on the theme of Metta and Bodhicitta, and will try to tell you the story...
It’s been a fantastic day here at Adhisthana and I feel absolutely spoilt. I have to admit I’m a bit tired now and I’m still struggling with the wifi - but here is a little post to get a feel for the day….
The atmosphere has been unbelievably positive. I’m sure that’s down to the depth and breadth of the threads of friendship that criss-cross through the people around me. Meditating together, nipping out to the shops with Akasajoti for croissants to...
This weekend Triratna sanghas around the world are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Triratna Buddhist Community’s foundation (as the Friends of the Western Buddhist Order) in London, UK, on the evening of Friday 7th April 1967.
That evening is well described by Sangharakshita near the end of his volume of memoirs, Moving Against the Stream: the birth of a new Buddhist movement, which also gives an account of the context from which the FWBO emerged.
A day for the south-west region to celebrate our sangha in Bristol and worldwide.

Subhuti: For the Welfare of the World The fire of peace has been ignited in the world by the Buddha. It burns brightly today in the Triratna Order and movement, and inspired by Sangharakshita’s vision will burn well into the future – but...
