Is Karuna still supporting Triratna Projects in India?

Recently, we shared that several leading Triratna Trusts in India have sadly lost their permission to receive foreign funding. For this reason, as a UK-based organisation, Karuna is no longer able to fund some of our long-standing projects in India, such as the Educational Hostels.  

As we know that many of Karuna’s supporters and those who volunteer for our fundraising appeals are Triratna Order Members, mitra’s or friends and we wanted to let you know that Karuna is still funding...

Thanks to its “amazing” Buddhist volunteer fundraisers, in 2015 Triratna’s Karuna Trust had the best fundraising year in its 35-year history.

Karuna’s head of fundraising, Steven Murdoch, writes: “In a year when the UK charity sector was widely criticised for some dubious fundraising practices, Karuna had its most successful fundraising season ever. This means we are on course to send over £1M to our project partners working with persecuted dalit and tribal communities in India and Nepal.”

Hello! Sarah here writing on behalf of the Glasgow 2015 Women’s Karuna Appeal.

For BAM 2015 I have joined a team of 4 courageous women, led by the wonderful Sangamani, who are knocking on doors in Glasgow to raise funds for the Karuna Trust. For me, door knocking to support people in India who desperately need our help encapsulates Buddhist Action, especially the themes of caring for others and money awareness.
