How I'm Remembering to Remember - Sailing the Worldly Winds Home Retreat Day 3

By Sadayasihi on Sun, 5 Apr, 2020 - 14:02

In these times, when so much is going on - when there’s a constant flow of information and the situation is seemingly changing by the hour - it can feel hard to maintain one’s practice. It can be hard to not be blown about by the worldly winds.

I’ve been acutely aware of the extremes of my responses to even the smallest of things these past few days: joy at the sunlight streaming in the window, at exchanging smiles with a stranger...

Coronavirus Grants for Triratna Order Members

By Sadayasihi on Wed, 1 Apr, 2020 - 18:21

The Abhayaratna Trust is responding to the financial hardship resulting from the spread of Covid-19 by offering short term relief through cash grants of up to £500 per Order member as support at this time.

Many Order members are self-employed and the sudden loss of income has left some of them without the resources to pay food and utility bills and with rent shortfalls. Access to state benefits can be too slow or not available in many countries.

Coronavirus: An Urgent Karuna Appeal

By Padmadaka on Fri, 27 Mar, 2020 - 16:35

The spread of coronavirus represents the global health crisis of our time and, like you, I find myself having to manage an unprecedented and constantly changing situation.

Job insecurity, cancelled plans and, most importantly, concern about our loved ones and those with underlying health conditions means that we are all struggling. I sincerely hope that you are able to access the support you need to stay well and to protect yourself and others during this time.

As I write, India and Nepal have gone...

Triratna Responds to the Coronavirus

By Sadayasihi on Fri, 27 Mar, 2020 - 09:57

As the Covid-19 pandemic continues to spread across the world, how have Triratna Buddhist Centres and team-based right livelihood businesses been responding?

By now most Triratna Buddhist Centres and groups have closed their doors - but many have opened up on the digital universe and invited their sanghas to join them online. Various Triratna Centres across the world are now offering courses classes, pujas, urban retreats and other events online. Now is a great time to try out joining in some of the...

Buddhists in Europe and COVID-19

By Munisha on Thu, 26 Mar, 2020 - 12:50

Across Europe (and much of the rest of the world) Buddhists of all traditions are deeply affected by the arrival of the new Coronavirus, COVID-19, just like everyone else.

Triratna is a member of the European Buddhist Unionwhose president wrote to all members today.

In the UK and much of the rest of Europe Buddhist temples, centres and retreat centres area closed. Many countries are in ‘lockdown’, people required by law to stay at home most of the time.

Here in Sweden where I...

Free the Dharma

By Windhorse Publi... on Mon, 23 Mar, 2020 - 15:47

All our lives are affected by the coronavirus. At home or out helping, we can find ways to look after each other and ourselves. How we are with our minds during this time will impact our experience and relationships and the future we make together.

The Buddha taught how to let go of fear and self-clinging, be alone well, and train ourselves to encounter suffering without alienation or anxiety.

We’d like to do what we can to make the Buddha’s teachings and practices available...

The Dharma Toolkit for Uncertain Times - Get Online Resources and Support During the Coronavirus Closure of Buddhist Centres

By Candradasa on Wed, 18 Mar, 2020 - 22:21

From the moment Dharma Centres of all traditions around the world began to close their doors for an indefinite period, here at The Buddhist Centre Online we’ve been thinking and talking about how we might promote and support a sense of community among all who practise in Triratna and beyond.

For many of us, this kind of sustained physical distancing from our family, workmates, neighbours, fellow travellers in life is at best strange and at worst painful. Some of us already have relatives...
