By Sthiramitra on Tue, 17 May, 2022 - 10:43

Dear friends,
Buddhism offers us an inspiring vision of what it means to be a human being, but it doesn’t stop there. It also gives us ways to transform our emotions - and our life - in the light of this vision.

Using a combination of teaching, discussion, meditation and practical exercises, this six-week course will help you deepen your vision, develop more emotional warmth and positivity, and apply the wisdom of Buddhism to all areas of your life.

BREAK OUT : Beginners meditation and Buddhism course.

By Sthiramitra on Thu, 17 Mar, 2022 - 15:26

Frome sangha are delighted to invite you to our first face to face course on Buddhism and meditation for two years.

Your mind has vast potential for freedom and happiness. Buddhism calls this Awakening. And it offers a path of training to achieve it.

But this potential can feel far from our everyday experience. Our minds are often troubled by restlessness, anger and confusion.

This has always been the human condition. For 2,500 years Buddhism has offered a path to help people just like you to...

Early Buddhism Study Group Online - Sunday 23 January 2022

The Buddha lived all of two and a half thousand years ago. However, the writings of the Pali Canon offer us a window onto his words and his personality. Join us for study of these earliest Buddhist scriptures, exploring what message they might have for us in these unprecedented and uncertain times. We will start each session with a brief period of Pali chanting and meditation before we read and reflect on a sutta. Join us for an exploration of...

Chester Quaker Meeting House Closed to Public

By prashrabdhi on Fri, 6 Nov, 2020 - 16:16

Sadly, the Chester Quaker Meeting House has closed its doors to the public.  We have had to remove our equipment.  We send thanks and well wishing to the staff who have been so kind and helpful over the last 6 years.  They have been made redundant.

Manny is storing our equipment until we find a new physical meeting place.  In the meantime, we are meeting on Zoom every Wednesday evening.  All welcome.

Reflections on the Karuna Telephone Campaign

By Karuna on Wed, 31 Jul, 2019 - 14:59

It was hard to explain to my friends what I was doing for six weeks. I flippantly described my volunteer work at Karuna as a mixture of meditation, group therapy and telesales. Whilst this depiction clearly undersold my experience, on the surface the job did primarily involve calling up Karuna supporters and asking them to increase their donations – an activity undertaken by numerous charities.

And yet, I have come away from these six weeks with a profound sense of gratitude that...

Friendship is most important

By Liz_Bassett on Thu, 20 Jul, 2017 - 13:14

Following last week’s film about India Dhamma’s Young People’s Projects, this week Liz celebrates the achievements of a young member of our Sangha in India.

Neha Gajbhiye is a graphic designer, film-maker, and a GFR Mitra. She lives in Nagpur with her husband Maitriratna and shares her Buddhist practice with her family, who are also involved in Triratna. But it wasn’t always like this. Neha has worked through incredibly hard circumstances to create this life for herself and her family.

Neha...
