Quelques mots de l'ex présidente

From Espace Sangha de Paris on Sat, 2 Mar, 2019 - 07:23

New Men's Mitra Convener

From Wellington Buddhist Centre on Thu, 28 Feb, 2019 - 22:51

On Tuesday 26th February we celebrated Akashagarbha who had been the men’s Mitra convener for 12 years and had a ritual passing the baton to Achalamuni who has taken on that responsibility.

Chris Bicknell rejoiced beautifully in Akashagarbha speaking under three headings: selflessness, love of the dharma and friendship. His sentiments were echoed by all of the men who have been in a Mitra study group with Akashagarbha, some of them citing their relationship with Akashagarbha, his availability and willingness to share...

Bodhisattva Ideal Mitratas

From Mitra Support on Thu, 28 Feb, 2019 - 19:29

Hi all.

A few years ago Ksantivadin and I digitalised all of Bhante’s old Mitrata booklets on The Bodhisattva Ideal lecture series.

There are eight lectures in the original series, and eight pairs of Mitratas in the series. The first of each pair contains a lightly edited version of the talk and often some seminar extracts, and then the second of each pair is just seminar extracts.

(By seminars extracts, I mean extracts taken from study seminars lead by Bhante on those particular Bodhisattva Ideal lectures.)

All the...

Dharmabyte: Friendship Arises From Metta

From Free Buddhist Audio on Thu, 28 Feb, 2019 - 14:00

In today’s FBA Dharmabyte we offer an excerpt from a talk by Vajratara entitled: Friendship Arises from Metta. To have friends, we need to learn to be a friend. Friendship is an active practice, not to be left to chance.

Using the Buddha’s advice to Sigalaka, Vajratara gives some practical guidance on how to be a good hearted, supportive, consistent, beneficial and loving friend.

From the talk entitled How To Be A Friend given at Sheffield Buddhist...

Thank you to Jai

From FutureDharma on Thu, 28 Feb, 2019 - 13:53

Thank you to Jai

Jai Teather will be leaving the FutureDharma team, and the Adhisthana community, at the beginning of March and as Director I want to thank him, on behalf of the team and trustees, for all that he has contributed to the project. All of us involved in FutureDharma are inspired by and love the project but, as a project in its infancy, the work can be demanding; Jai has been with FutureDharma for a year but, after careful consideration...

Coming soon: ‘The Dark Side of the Mirror’ by David Brazier

From Windhorse Publications on Wed, 27 Feb, 2019 - 15:44

There are just three weeks to go before the publication of our latest book, The Dark Side of the Mirror: forgetting the self in Dōgen’s Genjō Kōan, by respected Buddhist teacher and author David Brazier.

Genjō Kōan is the most important chapter in Zen master Dōgen’s principal major work, the Shōbōgenzō. Although Genjō Kōan is familiar to Buddhists both east and west, it is still not well understood. This new translation and commentary draws back the curtain revealing the deeper meaning of the text in language that...
