'For the Attainment of Enlightenment'

From Padmaloka Retreat Centre on Sun, 3 Apr, 2022 - 00:00
Enlightenment being ineffable and indescribable, it is perhaps best explored through deeply contemplating the life of the Buddha - the living embodiment of Enlightenment. In this talk, Padmasagara guides us through the Ariyapariyesana sutta and draws out 5 essential points from the life of the Buddha to help us in our practice of the third ordination acceptance verse - 'for the attainment of enlightenment, I accept this ordination'.

'For the Benefit of All Beings'

From Padmaloka Retreat Centre on Sun, 3 Apr, 2022 - 00:00
In this talk Maitreyabandhu investigates the fourth and the last of the acceptance verses with great warmth, humour and clarity. He explores its significance by drawing on the drama of the Sevenfold Puja, and the mystery and profundity of the Bodhisattva Ideal as expressed in the Diamond Sutra; that all beings need to be saved whilst realizing that there are no beings to be saved. A vision of truth and a culture of spiritual friendship are crucial for this vow to be lived out, and that is what the Triratna Buddhist Order has to offer.

Padmavajra and Maitreyabandhu in Conversation | 'What is the Order?'

From Padmaloka Retreat Centre on Sun, 3 Apr, 2022 - 00:00
Urgyen Sangharakshita, the teacher and founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order and movement holds a central position within it. In this conversation that took place during the ‘What is the Order?’ retreat, Maitreyabandhu, with great sensitivity and clarity, draws out Padmavajra who shares with complete honesty and openness his personal relationship with his teacher, the responsibility of being a public preceptor, perspectives on controversies within the movement, and Bhante’s position within the Order today. During this hour and a half, we have the great fortune to witness Padmavajra witnessing Bhante, and Sangharakshita in his turn witnessing Dhardo Rimpoche who witnesses the Buddha. The interview finishes with a period of questions and answers with the audience. This recording can be seen with video on the Padmaloka YouTube channel.

FBA Podcast: Bell, Book and Candle.

From Free Buddhist Audio on Sat, 2 Apr, 2022 - 06:00

Founded on the active principle behind an often empty ritual of ‘Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels’, this Movement has become a dynamic worldwide community of Buddhist practitioners. Just how did Sangharakshita, through the Triratna Community and Order, transform the recitation of the words ‘I go for Refuge…’ into a path of deeper meaning and purpose?

Bodhidasa borrows symbols from Western Magickal traditions and Catholicism to explore the power, resonance and wisdom of the Three Jewels.
