Special Assignment: 1993

From Dharma Tape History Detectives on Tue, 14 May, 2013 - 05:02
Recently, HQ contacted the Detectives on special assignment: Locate and digitize Dhammadinna’s 1993 talk “Dimensions of Refuge.”

Amazingly, this detective had not one but two copies of this rare cassette deep in the storage chambers also known as the coat closet. The first copy proved to be too badly damaged to rescue. It suffers either from bad bleed-through, or it has become a channel of paranormal activity from some great beyond. Since the latter is outside the scope...

Spiritual Death and Radical Transformation

From Stockholms buddhistcenter on Tue, 14 May, 2013 - 01:00
In this rousing talk Maitreyabandhu goes into where Buddhism begins: with ourselves as we are and with the awake Buddha. But we don't really know either ourselves or the Buddha. He emphasises that we don't know because we so easily assume we know, or fix or lessen the goal. So what do we do? There are three approaches we need to balance and four things we have to do, to close the gap between the awake Buddha and us who are as yet unawake. Given at Sangha Night, 13 May 2013.

Going Deeper Into Life - Meditation Instruction

From Stockholms buddhistcenter on Mon, 13 May, 2013 - 01:00
Some tips on reflection before a meditation.

(During a 4-day retreat in May 2013, at Dharmagiri retreatcenter, Sweden, Maitryeabandhu gave four seminars on 'The five great stages of spiritual life', as it is viewed and practiced within the Triratna Buddhist community. He draws substantially on the writing and teaching that Sangharakshita and Subhuti has produced in recent years. Maitreyabandhu adds a liveliness and concreteness to the themes, which has been highly valued by the Swedish sangha.)
