Adhisthana kula update, November 2019

We’d like to update you about the next steps of the Adhisthana kula work. These next steps formed part of a “Further Response from the Adhisthana Kula to the Observer Article”, published 28th July, and are listed at the end of this update.

On 23rd August we issued a “Message of Apology and Regret” (point 1) as well as a contextualising note “Addressing our Collective History”. Although it became clear that such an Apology...

30th Anniversary of the First Triratna Ordinations of Women by Women in the West

By Sadayasihi on Thu, 12 Sep, 2019 - 10:14

2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the first ordinations of women by women in the West.

Ratnasuri previously had been the Public Preceptor for two dharmacharinis in India, January 1987, which she conducted ‘on behalf of’ Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order.

In 1989 Sangharakshita asked Ratnasuri to perform ordinations ‘on her own responsibility’ - a very significant development for the Order. On 17th August 1989, on a retreat at Taraloka Retreat Centre, Wales, she received into the...

Dedication

By Development Team on Thu, 22 Aug, 2019 - 12:01

The International Gathering 2019 is about to start.
A team of people have been working joyfully to prepare and set everything up. Each day’s work was started with this dedication-ceremony, created by Polly from verses about Padmasambhava, which expresses the spirit of creating the event and welcoming people to it.

There is no teacher like the Buddha
There is no protector like the Dharma
There is no field like the Sangha

May we follow the Three Jewels with a devotion as...

Triratna InHouse rediscovers long-lost seminar!

By lokabandhu on Tue, 2 Jul, 2019 - 14:22

Some very exciting news here at Triratna InHouse Publications has been the rediscovery and republication of a long-lost but very important seminar by Sangharakshita, ‘Dhyana for Beginners’.  This was the principal inspiration for Vajraloka’s meditation teaching for many years.  You’ll find it in a new Volume VII of the Mahayana Texts, Sutras and Sadhanas series within the 17 volumes of Sangharakshita’s Collected Seminars - along with two other unpublished seminars, the Ratnagunasamcayagatha and some questions and answers on...

Direct Action Meditations and the Dharma

By Maitrisiddhi on Thu, 9 May, 2019 - 12:49

I’m passionate about the Dharma, including the wisdom perspective. I’m passionate about spreading the Dharma. As well as spending the last ten years of my life in service to Taraloka, I’ve also started up West Wales Buddhist Group, in Aberystwyth, where we’re growing a lively sangha. I’m passionate about Maitreya, my yidam - Bodhisattva of Metta and Buddha of the Future - who meditates at the city gates, in the middle of the world, not in a quiet cave somewhere....
