Turning Obstacles Into the Path: The Great Gathering 30 May - 2 Jun

By Maitrisiddhi on Fri, 12 Jan, 2024 - 10:02

With urgency, humour and passion, Shantideva’s Bodhicaryavatara, ‘Guide to the Bodhisattva Path’ gives us a path of vision and a path of transformation.  How can we engage all of ourselves - messy, passionate, loving-hating beings that we are - in the quest for awakening for the sake of all that lives? And how can we turn obstacles into the path itself?

For Dharmacharinis and women training for ordination.

Led by Subhadramati, Maitridevi, Karunadhi, Maitrisiddhi and Mahamani

All proceeds from this event will go to support Tiratanaloka Unlimited.

Come!  You...

TIRATANALOKA [UNLIMITED]: Breaking News

By Subhadramati on Wed, 22 Nov, 2023 - 15:59

I was absolutely astounded by Karunadhi’s phone-call telling me that the Windhorse Trust was giving Tiratanaloka Unlimited half-a-million pounds! She had to say it twice before it sank in. Then I burst into tears of our gratitude. What an affirmation to all of us - to all of you who believe so deeply in this project. And it’s a massive leap forward for our fundraising. This brings our new total to over one million pounds, which means we’re...

Tiratanaloka is on the market!

Tiratanaloka retreat centre came into being with the purchase of Aberclydach House at the end of 1994. This project was brought to fruition by five senior dharmacharinis -  Samata, Dhammadinna, Anjali, Anoma and Sanghadevi - who in 1992 got together to develop a sustainable process for women who had asked for ordination.

Tiratanaloka as an ordination training centre has been a huge success, to the point where we have now outgrown our space. We are currently very limited in regard to...

Letter from the College – June

By ratnadharini on Fri, 30 Jun, 2023 - 15:42

Dear Order members and friends,

My experience this month has been dominated by preparing for, and enacting, a 150 mile pilgrimage from where Sangharakshita was born in Tooting, London, on 26th August 1925, to Adhisthana, Herefordshire, where he lived the last – and some of the happiest – years of his life, dying on 30th October 2018. Having had the inspiration for the pilgrimage, I realised I could share the experience with others and open it up as a fundraising initiative...

Day Nine #PilgrimageUnlimited Video Diary: Winchcombe to Tewkesbury

By akasajoti on Thu, 22 Jun, 2023 - 00:14

Day 9: Winchcombe, to Tewkesbury, 11 miles. Wild cows, wild footpaths, wild effort… 🐄 🌱 🔥

Ratnadharini writes:

I’m overjoyed to see this pilgrimage has inspired nearly 250 to collectively give over £13,000 to Tiratanaloka Unlimited! It’s a project close to my heart. I did so well yesterday, maybe because I used walking poles. Today was harder: detours to avoid frisky cows; negotiating overgrown - or non-existent footpaths; right hip starting to complain… and crossing the M5 was a shock. But Tewkesbury is...
