Vacancy in the Women’s Community in Sheffield

By satyajyoti on Sat, 1 Feb, 2020 - 15:29

We live in a beautiful big house owned by the Buddhist Centre, less than ten minutes’ walk from the Buddhist Centre itself, in the suburb of Walkley in Sheffield. It is a lovely area, quiet and friendly, a couple of miles out of the city centre.

Sheffield itself is a great...

A second Sheffield-designed course is now available online for you to use at your centres. The course is designed to follow after the 8 week Radical Dharma course.

Starting with an emphasis on Vision, it leads though the process of Transformation: emotion, imagination, speech, right livelihood, and effort and attention in meditation. Here you’ll find Vadanya’s introductory videos for each week along with...

The programme for Sheffield BAM 2017 is out!

By Khemasuri on Sat, 13 May, 2017 - 18:20

Building Sangha and supporting fellow Buddhists to step into and interact with the world is vital in this time of confusion. Promoting Buddhist values and principles through exemplification challenges cultural norms constructively and is a powerful practice. We know that our actions have consequences and although we may never see the results we can have confidence that we will make a difference.

We have arranged 6 mornings of meditation, talks and discussion to make more conscious the connections between our ethical commitment...

BAM in Sheffield

Buddhist Action Month began for some members of the Sheffield sangha on Sunday May 29, with the day retreat ‘Natural Dharma’ a Work that Reconnects day in a wonderful woodland setting. It was the first proper event hosted by Kuladitya and Cecilie in their woodland (and gorgeous yurt!), which they are slowly but surely restoring from Pine plantation to Oak woodland. Whereas only a few months ago the ground was covered by Bracken and Brambles, now it was dappled with Bluebells, Stichwort,...

Sheffield Younger Sangha 16th of March

By Prajnaketu on Mon, 22 Feb, 2016 - 15:55

I hope you’re all enjoying the ending of the rain and the threatening of spring! As we move into March, make sure that the date of the next younger sangha evening is in your diaries - Saturday 16th March, this time led by Kate. We’ll be exploring the Buddha’s decision to teach the Dharma after his enlightenment, and the profound vision he had which inspired him to do so.

Hope to see you there!

Exploring the Karaniya Metta Sutta - March 15, 2015

By Christine on Mon, 9 Feb, 2015 - 19:54May all beings be happy in their heart of hearts!

This day of study, reflection and ritual will explore the richness of the Karaniya Metta Sutta, the Buddha’s discourse on universal loving kindness. In particular, we’ll examine how can we make this teaching more relevant to our everyday lives and to our engagement in the world. Open to all.

Led by Khemasuri and Suddhacandika with support from Karaniya Metta Kula. Please bring a veggie lunch to share.
