During the March Area College gathering for the UK, Ireland and Europe, Kamalashila attended for an evening to have a farewell following his retirement from the Preceptors’ College at the end of last year. He was able to share some of his current threads of practice and inspiration, and a number of those present rejoiced in him. Here we share two of those contributions from Sanghadevi and Satyaraja.

The College of Public Preceptors is delighted to announce that Jnanavaca has been appointed as a Public Preceptor.

Jnanavaca was ordained in 1999 at the Hsuan Tsang Retreat Centre in India by Subhuti, who is both his private and public preceptor.

2019 marks the 30th anniversary of the first ordinations of women by women in the West.

Ratnasuri previously had been the Public Preceptor for two dharmacharinis in India, January 1987, which she conducted ‘on behalf of’ Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Order.

Death of Vajragita

By Munisha on Sat, 29 Nov, 2014 - 21:54With sadness we report the death from cancer of Dharmacharini Vajragita, who died very peacefully at home in Amsterdam at around 18.00 local time today, in the company of her community. She was 76 years old.

Vajragita was ordained by Sangharakshita in 1981 in Seaford, Sussex, UK. Her yidam was Padmasambhava. A founder member of the sangha in the Netherlands, she lived and worked at Taraloka (UK) for several years. She recently became a Public preceptor.
