To coincide with the International Conventions, the India Dhamma Trust is arranging a special pilgrimage for Order members and Mitras who wish to gain a living experience of the unity of Triratna.

From the heartlands of Ancient Buddhism, order members and mitras will follow itineraries that attend the Order or Mitra conventions at Bodh Gaya, and take in the traditional pilgrimage sites of Shravasti, Kusinara, Lumbini, Vaishali and Sarnath, before combining to travel to Nagpur to explore Triratna...

“Buddhas in my Pocket”: An Australian Buddhist pilgrimage

By Aryanisha on Tue, 31 Jan, 2017 - 16:03

Maitripala is an Order member in Australia. When I met her a couple of years ago, she told me of her plans to embark on a pilgrimage along the east coast of Australia to volunteer for different Triratna Buddhist Groups and Centres. Wearing her kesa every day for a year, she would also hand out small Buddha figures to strangers she met along the way. Here she describes how this incredibly moving adventure has been unfolding.

Maitripala writes: “I have been given...

Saddhanandi became Chair of Adhisthana earlier this year after 14 years as Chair of Taraloka, Triratna’s retreat centre for women.

In her first Adhisthana Newsletter, earlier this month, she wrote: “This is the first time I’m writing to you after taking on the position of Chair at Adhisthana from Vajragupta. He is now touring various centres doing what he loves - teaching the Dharma.

I’m at my desk listening to the sounds of a very rowdy game of volleyball...

Kate's British pilgrimage

By Munisha on Wed, 25 Nov, 2015 - 23:01

As we reported in April, London Buddhist Centre mitra Kate Grant has spent much of this year on pilgrimage – in Britain. She writes:

“In September I completed my pilgrimage: an outer journey to reflect life’s inner journeys. I set off in February, from Tooting in south London (where Sangharakshita began life), on a walk to Bhante’s home, Adhisthana, lasting 17 separate days and covering 200 miles.

Inspired by a pilgrim’s sense of higher purpose, Bhante’s childhood memoirs...

Kate Grant is on a pilgrimage, and you’re welcome to come along too. A mitra at the London Buddhist Centre, her plan is to walk from Tooting in south London, where Sangharakshita spent his boyhood, to Adhisthana, where he lives now. She’s doing this over the course of 17 days, roughly 2 days a month, arriving at Adhisthana on 6th September.

She says, “Each walk will take 3-6 hours. Companions welcome! Four walks down, I’ll be leaving London behind this Saturday, with a little flock...

Suriyavamsa's Dharma Walk Through Scotland

By Candradasa on Tue, 8 Jul, 2014 - 14:08Over on our Features channel (encompassing the stories that make our home page each week, plus original new Dharma content) we’ve a remarkable ongoing series of posts from Suriyavamsa, the newly installed President of Triratna Highlands in Scotland. He is marking the start of his time in that position by making a ‘Dharma Walk’ (a pilgrimage of sorts) from Inverness to Glasgow (that’s 165 miles or so!). And he’s blogging it for us from his trusty...
