The Highland Buddhist Centre is home to a friendly and welcoming community of practising Buddhists. We teach and practise meditation and Buddhism in a way that is relevant and accessible to all. Though Buddhism is more than two and a half thousand years old, its teachings are timeless. Living a Buddhist life brings clarity, richness and contentment. We present ways of cultivating love for ourselves and others and peace, qualities needed more than ever in our frenetic modern world.
Members of our sangha – or community – live throughout the Highlands and islands and practise both in our centre in the heart of Inverness and online. Our weekly sangha nights are open to all, and are tailored to levels of experience ranging from newcomers to experienced Buddhist practitioners. We also run introductory courses, mindfulness classes, practice days and retreats and have an extensive collection of books about Buddhism for loan.
The Highland Buddhist Centre is located in the centre of Inverness, minutes from the train and bus stations and within handy reach of city centre car parks.
A warm welcome awaits you. We offer supportive conditions to learn, deepen and enliven the core Buddhist teachings of ethics, meditation and wisdom.
We celebrate Buddhist festival days together and run retreats in the centre as well as gathering in the west Highlands for one weekend retreat each year.
