Letter from the Chair – December 2024

By Mahamati on Sat, 30 Nov, 2024 - 09:34

Dear Order members and friends,

Remembering Kamalashila

By akasajoti on Fri, 1 Nov, 2024 - 01:00

Kamalashila was one of the earliest public preceptors, one of three Order members whom Sangharakshita asked to carry out ordinations on his behalf in India in 1985. In all, he became a preceptor to 38 Order members. In the 1990s he lived at Madhyamaloka as part of the Preceptors’ College Council, and subsequently was active in the Preceptors’ College.

Below, four Public Preceptors – Sanghadevi, Satyaraja, Ashokashri and Nagabodhi – rejoice in, and share memories of, Kamalashila. On...

By Candradasa on Fri, 14 Jun, 2024 - 22:09

New Podcast: Mindfulness of Death and Dying

By Candradasa on Sat, 8 Jun, 2024 - 19:42

As Kamalashila says, “Taking it out of the taboo cupboard”.

We hear Kamalashila’s perspective starting out on what he...

Unfortunately, I have a new plan for the summer

By kamalashila on Sat, 4 May, 2024 - 11:59

I’m writing to everyone interested in the new weekly series of Anapanasati and Brahmaviharas practice sessions. Many of you won’t have heard about what’s happened, so I’m sorry, this will be a shock, please pause and take a breath. Over the last month I have discovered that I have cancer, that it is incurable, and that I am estimated to have just a few months to live. Yes, I’m afraid it’s true. See my ‘journey into the unknown’ blog on ...
