Third meeting of Triratna's International Council

By Munisha on Wed, 15 Oct, 2014 - 00:56August this year saw the third meeting of the Triratna International Council at Adhisthana, UK. Twenty eight members of the Triratna Buddhist Order gathered from all over the world to discuss a range of current topics. A 5-minute slideshow summary of its proceedings is now available.

Triratna has an interestingly many-layered structure of governance, with each Centre being legally autonomous. As a worldwide whole it’s arguable that Triratna exists solely in the hearts of its participants,...

International Council 2014, Voices No. 8 - Jnanadakini (Latin America & Spain, Order Strand)

By Candradasa on Tue, 19 Aug, 2014 - 21:22
Jnanadakini from Mexico joins us as our last Buddhist voice from the 2014 Triratna International Council. As the great assembly draws to a close she reflects with us on a strong week and the challenges in taking its inspiration back to a more isolated part of our community. Having moved from some scepticism about the value of the meeting to out and out enthusiasm, Jnanadakini is a great advocate of the spiritual practice involved in international gatherings!

International Council 2014, Voices No. 7 - Maitriratna and Vijaya (India, Order and College Strands)

By Dassini on Thu, 14 Aug, 2014 - 09:39
A great interview with two pioneering women - the first female Indian members of the Order to come to the International Council to represent their respective strands. We hear about their home lives in India and their work within the Order there. And they share their inspiration from the Council, particularly around women taking responsibility and taking the lead in a spiritual community.

By Candradasa on Wed, 13 Aug, 2014 - 08:43The last of our daily video summaries form the 2014 Triratna International Council, exploring how a worldwide spiritual community crossing many cultures and languages can move forward in an authentically united way.

In today’s de-mob happy installment we hear the ways in which the different strands of the meeting are pulling together to agree on concrete, achievable results with the help of Charlie’s Angels, chocolate, and a lot of hard work…

Triratna International Council - Day 6 Summary

By Candradasa on Tue, 12 Aug, 2014 - 22:00We’re joined on the sofa this evening (after slow rural internet delays!) by a great team from the Latin America and Spanish area of the Triratna International Council - a grouping based primarily on language rather than geography. They were generous enough to record both this excellent summary of the day and an overview of the event in Spanish. Here we learn about the steps the Council is now taking to make sure realistic, concrete actions results from all the...
