On Friday 17th January, the Toluca Buddhist Centre in Mexico was formally inaugurated. The Toluca Buddhist Centre arose from the friendship of three friends who wanted to share their practice with each other and with other people.

Kalyanaloka: Buddhist and Tea Retreat Centre

  • As part of the inauguration of Kalyanaloka, and in the spirit of a Triratna dedication ceremony, there were three elements to the ritual: a bonfire (symbolising a wall of fire - pictured); the placing of vajra in the ground (symbolising a wall of vajras); and the planting of a tree over the vajra (symbolising a wall of lotuses).

Kalyanaloka: Buddhist and Tea Retreat Centre

A new retreat centre practicing in the context of the Triratna Buddhist Community was inaugurated in June during a summer solstice ritual.  Kalyanaloka, based in Brighton, held a special ritual, led by Subhadassi, chairperson of the nearby Brighton Buddhist Centre, which included a tea ceremony, a practice which is central to this retreat centre.
