The Chairs of Triratna’s centres and other enterprises in Europe are meeting this week at Adhisthana, for the first of the European Chairs’ Assembly’s two annual meetings this year.

They’ve also had a presentations on the Young Buddhist project, using news media to promote...

An Order retreat on the Vimalakirti Nirdesa Sutra
29th January–5th February 2016
with Dhammarati, Lokeshvara, Parami, Saddhaloka + Saddhanandi

In 2016, Adhisthana will hold a series of Order retreats and seminars beginning with a week long retreat on the Vimalakirti Nirdesa sutra. On these events we hope to offer the same richness of vision that was witnessed on the Order weekend in celebration of Bhante’s 90th birthday, with its magnitude and diversity, though on...

Saddhanandi became Chair of Adhisthana earlier this year after 14 years as Chair of Taraloka, Triratna’s retreat centre for women.

In her first Adhisthana Newsletter, earlier this month, she wrote: “This is the first time I’m writing to you after taking on the position of Chair at Adhisthana from Vajragupta. He is now touring various centres doing what he loves - teaching the Dharma.

I’m at my desk listening to the sounds of a very rowdy game of volleyball...

Kate's British pilgrimage

By Munisha on Wed, 25 Nov, 2015 - 23:01

As we reported in April, London Buddhist Centre mitra Kate Grant has spent much of this year on pilgrimage – in Britain. She writes:

“In September I completed my pilgrimage: an outer journey to reflect life’s inner journeys. I set off in February, from Tooting in south London (where Sangharakshita began life), on a walk to Bhante’s home, Adhisthana, lasting 17 separate days and covering 200 miles.

Inspired by a pilgrim’s sense of higher purpose, Bhante’s childhood memoirs...

New Order faces at Adhisthana

By Munisha on Wed, 25 Nov, 2015 - 12:50

The Adhisthana community is growing. We introduce three Order members who arrived during the course of the summer.

Sanghadarshini moved from Germany to be retreat centre manager; Vimalamati (British) is assistant to the international Order Convenors, Lokeshvara and Parami; Sthanashraddha is Bhante’s new secretary, also British.

I interviewed them amid the preparations for Sangharakshita’s 90th birthday Order weekend in August. What a great time to come here, thought Sanghadarshini: “It’s great to jump in and work with all these fantastic...

Clear Vision reports from Triratna’s 8th Young Buddhist retreat in October at Adhisthana, UK. Young Order members, Friends and Mitras explain the importance of these events and rejoice in their friendships. They also say goodbye to Singhamati, stepping down as the European Chairs’ Assembly’s (ECA) part-time Young People’s Co-ordinator.

As she explains, it all began with the first weekend for young people, in 2008, at which some old people were also present, “trying to be young people”. (Yeah, thanks, Singhamati!) What...
