The 2019 Big One kicks off today! As more and more people arrive we begin to get to settled in…meeting friends old and new, engaging the great Bodhisattva activity of washing up and, of course, dedicating the entire weekend’s practice for the benefit of all beings in the shrine room!

On the 30th October 2018 Urgyen Sangharakshita, the founder of Triratna’s Order and Community died. At his funeral last November an estimated 1,200 to 1,400 people attended the ceremony and burial in Adhisthana, and over 60,000 more watched online around the world.

The public preceptor was Parami.

Mary Hastings becomes Dhipalita, a Sanskrit name meaning ‘She who is protected by Wisdom’. (Long first ‘i’ and long final ‘a’).
Westernised spelling: Dhipalita.
Private preceptor: Saddhanandi

Denise Carlyle becomes Advayagita, a Sanskrit name meaning ‘She who sings of non-duality’. (Long ‘i’ and long final ‘a’).

We are pleased to announce the recent ordination celebrated at Adhisthana on Thursday 28th February 2019. Helen Rey from the Seattle Sangha becomes Prasadadhi (long second ‘a’ and long ‘i’), a Sanskrit name meaning ‘She whose Wisdom is clear, bright, pure.’ Punyamala was both Private and Public Preceptor. 🎉

Last Saturday, as many hundreds were gathered at Adhistana for Bhante’s final farewell, those of us who who stayed in Berlin came together as a sangha to rejoice in Sangharakshita and his life. We reflected how his life and the dharma he taught has touched and changed ours, we rejoiced in his life, heard stories and anecdotes of personal meetings people had had with him; all in a context of meditation, mantra chanting and puja.
