How should we behave? What is ‘Right’ and ‘Wrong’? And does that even matter anyway? In the 1960s, Sangharakshita and other early Western Buddhists asked questions like these. They critiqued society’s views about ‘good’ and ‘bad’ behaviour in the light of The Buddha’s teachings on ethics and karma from 2,500 years earlier in ancient India. However, the world we live in now is very different again from when Sangharakshita gave his lectures on ethics. So what are the current ethical issues that we need to think about as practicing Buddhists in our time, in our society?
