We are looking for an Order member to work with Munisha and carry on the development of Safeguarding policy and practice begun by her in 2013.

Triratna's European Chairs assemble for summer meeting

From Triratna News on Thu, 20 Jul, 2017 - 17:23

For the next week, the extraordinary, redeveloped Vajrasana Retreat Centre in Suffolk plays host to Triratna’s European Chairs’ Assembly. Sixty leaders of European Buddhist centres and enterprises, including retreat centres, are gathered here, with guests from further afield (and a family of ducks), for meditation, ritual, discussion and business, all in the context of spiritual friendship.

See more pictures and follow the meeting over on the ECA’s own space.

The ECA is a very long established and well run...

Friendship is most important

From Future Dharma on Thu, 20 Jul, 2017 - 13:14

Following last week’s film about India Dhamma’s Young People’s Projects, this week Liz celebrates the achievements of a young member of our Sangha in India.

Neha Gajbhiye is a graphic designer, film-maker, and a GFR Mitra. She lives in Nagpur with her husband Maitriratna and shares her Buddhist practice with her family, who are also involved in Triratna. But it wasn’t always like this. Neha has worked through incredibly hard circumstances to create this life for herself and her family.

Neha...

European Chairs Assembly July 2017

From European Chairs' Assembly on Thu, 20 Jul, 2017 - 08:21

The European Chairs Assembly is taking place 17-27 July 2017 at the LBC’s beautiful new Vajrasana retreat centre in the Suffolk countryside.

Twice a year the chairs from Triratna Buddhist Centres across Europe as well as the chairs or representatives from the main Triratna projects such as the Abhayaratna Trust, Karuna, Clear Vision and Dharmachakra, come together - for a week in January, and 10 days in the summer. It is a significant event in the life of a chair....

The Rain of The Dharma

The Rain of The Dharma

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Wed, 19 Jul, 2017 - 07:04

One of my favourite parables given by The Buddha was ‘The Rain of the Dharma’
In it he says that just as the rain falls on the myriad diversity of seeds allowing them to grow into the plants they have the potential to be, so too the dharma rains down on myriad beings allowing them to grow into the true individuals they have the capacity to be.

This might be the theme of the forthcoming retreat that is open...

Young People in India choose lives full of meaning

From Future Dharma on Wed, 12 Jul, 2017 - 16:37

Each month we’re going to bring you news from one of our amazing projects that you help make possible. So, for July, here’s a smasher - India Dhamma Trust’s Young People’s Projects:

In India engagement with Buddhism gives some of the most disadvantaged people in society an opportunity to transform their lives and their communities. Dedicated Ordination teams and Dhamma teachers help provide the conditions for thousands of people to practice Buddhism. An ageing Indian movement however is no longer attracting...

Persistence

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Wed, 12 Jul, 2017 - 02:47

I led a retreat in Toowoomba this weekend just past and I based it on a sutta called ‘Present Welfare, Future Welfare’.

The photo above is of sunrise at the tranquil Catholic seminary where it was held.

One of my ‘take-aways’ from this time was seeing that in this text which I have grown to love where The Buddha gives four principles for our welfare in this present life I have been misquoting him and therefore misunderstanding him. I have been saying his first...

Puja this Thursday Night

From Coogee Buddhist Group on Tue, 4 Jul, 2017 - 09:38

On Thursday night this week we will hold a puja in place of the regular meditation

A puja is a devotional ritual during which we move through seven stages that include reverencing The Buddha, his teachings and all who aspire to live by his teachings, the traditional Buddhist refuges and precepts and mantras.

There are opportunities during the puja to offer candles and incense to the shrine as an expression of our gratitude and intention.

If you haven’t done...
