Uncontrived Mindfulness: ending suffering through attention, curiosity and wisdom

By Vajradevi on Thu, 22 Jul, 2021 - 10:30

Led by Vajradevi

I’m running another online meditation retreat from Saturday 25th September to Friday 1st October 2021. The retreat is aimed at Order Members and Mitras and is offered on a Dana basis.

The emphasis will be on a relaxed, open, and attentive quality of ‘knowing’, receptive to whatever is happening within our experience. We will be cultivating mindfulness that is ‘uncontrived’ and natural and looking to bring ‘right view’ – a wisdom perspective - to each moment of awareness.

I’ll be drawing on...

If you live in the Americas, you may be pleased to learn that Vajradevi’s Uncontrived Mindfulness: Ending Suffering through Attention, Curiosity and Wisdom is now available through our US distributors.

Uncontrived Mindfulness is a deep dive into the practice of exploring our experience as it happens. The emphasis is on cultivating wisdom, using the tools of attention, curiosity and discernment to recognize and see through the delusion that is causing our suffering. Vajradevi is a warm and insightful guide to this exploration,...

Summer reading ideas from Windhorse Publications

By Windhorse Publi... on Fri, 14 May, 2021 - 14:39

With summer in the northern hemisphere fast approaching, and infections under control in many places, including here in the UK, lockdown restrictions are beginning to ease. What joy to be able to spend time together again! Some of us are making plans to go away on holiday, even if the choice of destination is somewhat limited.

We’re really proud of our new books this year and we think any – or all! – of them would make great summer reading. Whether...

By Windhorse Publi... on Fri, 9 Apr, 2021 - 10:44

We are very pleased to announce the release of Vajradevi’s first book, Uncontrived Mindfulness: Ending Suffering through Attention, Curiosity and Wisdom.

Over many years, Vajradevi has drawn on a range of approaches to the practice of satipaṭṭhāna: within Triratna as well as with U Tejaniya in the Burmese meditation tradition and some teachers of the Insight Meditation Society. What she offers us...

Coming soon: 'Uncontrived Mindfulness' by Vajradevi

By Windhorse Publi... on Fri, 13 Mar, 2020 - 12:44

In December Windhorse Publications announced the first six books we’ll be publishing in 2020, and we’re now delighted to announce the seventh, due for release in October: Uncontrived Mindfulness: ending suffering through attention, curiosity and wisdom by respected meditation teacher, Vajradevi.

The Buddha emphasized that happiness is found through understanding the mind rather than getting caught up in what we experience through the senses. This simple yet radical shift from our usual focus is key to a relaxed and natural – uncontrived – way of observing the...
