People of Colour Big Weekend at Adhisthana, UK

By Centre Team on Fri, 19 Apr, 2024 - 18:01

A unique opportunity to spend a long weekend surrounded by nature, meditating, relaxing and connecting with other people of colour. Chat to new and old friends over a cuppa or a walk in the Malvern hills, and with opportunities to go deeper in periods of silence.

The retreat is led by a wonderful team of experienced practitioners who will share their wisdom through talks, led-discussions and guided meditations, and this year will feature an exciting international guest speaker joining us from overseas.

February at Adhisthana

By Rush on Mon, 4 Mar, 2024 - 16:05

The first few months of every year are usually a bit quieter. With fewer people on site this means the cooks have a chance to get more creative; Jayadhi made a great Pad Thai, Bodhiketu created a spicy Lasagne, and Harry has been mastering a variety of recipes that you’ll get a chance to taste when you’re next here.

There are changes afoot again as Prajnanita hands over being manager to Prakashamitra. She will now be the Director – a new role...

Freed from the Burning House

By Caroline I P on Wed, 3 Jan, 2024 - 10:30

The White Lotus sutra

On a recent solitary retreat in a cabin in the Finnish countryside, in the midst of quiet countryside and mild autumn days, I spent a period every day for two weeks reading aloud the whole of the White Lotus Sutra.

Back in 1970 Bhante gave a series of talks...

Science and Buddhism

By Caroline I P on Wed, 4 Oct, 2023 - 11:03

Ratnaprabha recently led an over-subscribed retreat at Adhisthana on Science and Buddhism. He will be releasing a series of articles on the topic which you can read on  Adhisthana’s blog as well as Ratnaprabha’s personal website. If you missed the first retreat, there is another in 2024.

Science and Buddhism can be seen as self-contained universes, apparently complete in themselves. Each is a very extensive, coherent worldview, worked out over many centuries. They are the greatest collective cultural achievements...

🌸🌾Women’s and non-binary Yatra - 16th-22nd April - Honiton to Glastonbury
