The young Buddhists: Triratna's secret

By Munisha on Thu, 17 Dec, 2015 - 18:55

Presenting Triratna to the European Buddhist Union meeting in Berlin in September, I mentioned Triratna’s recent success in attracting more young people. With most sanghas ageing, people wanted to know our secret.

One answer is that we appointed a Young Buddhist co-ordinator to encourage young Buddhist activities and help other young Buddhists develop the confidence to lead.

Prajnaketu is the new, full-time Young Buddhist Co-ordinator appointed to the Development Team who work for Triratna’s European Chairs’ Assembly. He...

European Buddhist Union calls for compassion for refugees

By Munisha on Mon, 28 Sep, 2015 - 13:42

Last weekend I represented Triratna at the 40th Annual General Meeting of the European Buddhist Union. at the Rigpa Centre in Berlin.

At the particular request of Hungarian and Austrian Buddhists, a subgroup including me drafted a statement to be published in the name of the EBU: ‘A compassionate response to the European refugee crisis’.

“[We] call upon the governments and peoples of all European countries to show compassion and generosity to those displaced through war and seeking a refuge in Europe, safe from violence.

“As...

What is DANCE?

What is DANCE?

By Munisha on Fri, 15 May, 2015 - 12:00

Dharma Action Network for Climate Engagement (DANCE) is a “space for connecting to explore the breadth of possible Dharma responses to climate change and related issues.”

Originating with Gaia House, in Devon, UK, a centre connected with the Insight Meditation tradition, its publicity does not yet reflect awareness of BAM (which is growing but not yet that well known). Maybe nearby Triratna sanghas would like to make contact.

Find DANCE on Facebook.

Donations flood in for Nepal

By Munisha on Sat, 2 May, 2015 - 17:05

Donations to Green Tara Trust in Nepal are now well over GBP13,000 - not including the GBP5,000 donated by Karuna Trust.

It’s not too late to give. Make a Buddha Day donation!

While Nepal’s government reports today that almost none of the aid pledged by foreign governments has arrived yet, it’s good to hear from Green Tara Trust that your money is already there and working.

Local worker Ram writes “First funds from donations are coming through, that will be used mainly for...
