International Women's Day 2021: Mokshini

By mokshini on Tue, 9 Mar, 2021 - 08:36

My name’s Mokshini. I was ordained in 1999, during a 2 week training-for-ordination retreat at Tiratanaloka. In September 2018 I moved to Berlin, and since February 2020 I’ve been living in a women’s community with five other delightful beings. I am training to be a community nurse for senior citizens; once I finish – towards the end of this year - I plan to divide my time working for a living and extending my involvement in Dharma activities.

As the Mainland Europe Young Buddhist Convention in Valencia draws nearer, three ‘Young Buddhists’ from Valencia share a bit about their inspiration to practice the Dharma and how they have benefitted.

Estela:

“Last year I attended the meeting of Young Buddhists in Berlin. It was an incredible experience! I met young people from other countries, and it surprised me that we could connect really well despite cultural differences.

The atmosphere was very nice, open and fun. We had really...

Simone Deiringer is a Mitra in Triratna’s Berlin sangha, Germany, training for ordination and exploring possibilities for a project enabling sangha to live and work together near Berlin.

She writes: “I am looking for somewhere close to Berlin where we can establish a collective project, living and working together. BAM retreat in Ireland - Self and Other: the Alchemy of Transformation

Compassion is far more than emotion. It is something that springs

Up in the emptiness which is when you yourself are not there,

So that you do not know anything about it.

Nobody, in fact, knows anything about it (If they knew it, it would not be Compassion);

But they can only smell

The scent of the unseen flower

That blooms in the Heart of the Void

(‘The Unseen Flower’, by Bhante)

BAM in Ireland opened with a retreat over the June bank holiday weekend in the lovely surroundings of Sandville House, Co. Cavan.  Twenty...
