Buddhist Action Month 2014 closes

Throughout June, a great many activities took place, in Brighton, Colchester, Essen, Exeter, Leeds, London, Manchester and Stockholm, to name just a few places.

Originally conceived of by the Network of Buddhist Organisations UK as a nationwide day of British pan-Buddhist social action in 2012, Buddhist Action Month grew to a month in 2013...

Buddhist Action Month closes

Triratna women speak out at the UN Day of Vesak Conference 2014

By Munisha on Fri, 27 Jun, 2014 - 15:12Amoghamati, Karunamati and Vajrapushpa write about their recent visit to Vietnam, where they gave papers at the 11th United Nations Day of Vesak Conference. BAM at Triratna Exeter Group – a celebration of altruism in the Sangha

By Nandavajra on Thu, 19 Jun, 2014 - 13:01In an enlightening, inspiring and moving Sangha evening members of the group shared the place of altruism in their life and practice. Colin, a former member of Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth, and a very long-standing vegetarian (on altruistic grounds) talked of his voluntary work as an advocate for trade union members experiencing financial hardship and helping them to apply to benevolent funds. Emma, working at a Centre for adults with various, and sometimes profound, disabilities, shared the satisfaction,...

Radical ethics at Manchester Buddhist Centre

By Munisha on Tue, 10 Jun, 2014 - 18:01Buddhist Action Month kicked off in Manchester with last Sunday’s Radical Ethics event at the Manchester Buddhist Centre. Amitasuri was there and reports:

“Seventeen of us, aged from 20s to 60s, gathered for an afternoon run by the Centre’s Manchester Engaged Buddhist Kula.

BAM in Birmingham

By Munisha on Tue, 10 Jun, 2014 - 17:51Buddhist Action Month has started well. In fact, it started early: the Birmingham Buddhist Centre launched their events at the end of May! They report:

So far this ranges from signing up for a local organic veg box delivery...
