She advocates that it continue to be included in the Ten Precepts taken during ordination, and argues that this precept is not just about the alcoholic letting go of alcohol. She believes when we take on this precept we are vowing to abstain from all intoxicants - which means having the occasional glass of wine, beer or joint is not truly taking it seriously.
