We at Windhorse Publications are looking forward to some exciting new releases in 2016, including three new books and the first volume of Sangharakshita’s Complete Works.
New Books in 2016
Great Faith, Great Wisdom, to be launched in April, is a beautiful exploration of the imaginative world portrayed in the Pure Land Sutras, a world that is the objectification of the awakened mind. Author Ratnaguna and translator Śraddhāpa take a practical and imaginative approach, and this book is endorsed by Sangharakshita as ‘a ground breaking work (that) will appeal not only to Buddhists, particularly Mahayana Buddhists, but also to artists, poets, archetypal psychologists and historians of art.’
Mindful Emotion: A Short Course in Kindness, to be launched in the autumn, provides a workbook-style guide to understanding and practising Kindness Behaviour Training. Authors Dr Paramabandhu Groves and Dr Jed Shamel draw on their clinical experience and Buddhism to deepen the understanding of cultivating kindness in a mindful way.
To ensure the publication of both of these deep and meaningful titles, please consider sponsoring one or both books. Any amount is helpful, and donating £30 or more means you will get a copy of both the eBook and print edition upon publication.
In Mindfully Facing Disease and Death, also for autumn release, author Bhikkhu Anālayo draws on the early Buddhist discourses to provide guidance for those facing illness and passing away.
Windhorse Publications will also distribute and help launch Mindfulness for Women by Vidyamala Burch, to be published by Piatkus in February.
Sangharakshita’s Complete Works
Sangharakshita, the founder of the Triratna Buddhist Community and Order, has been a prolific and life-changing writer over the decades, clarifying the Dharma in many ways and making it accessible to many around the world. Some of his works are out of print and hard to find. To ensure his important writing can always be accessed, his work is now being compiled into a collection, the Sangharakshita Complete Works, in twenty-seven volumes, in durable hardback, affordable softback and universally accessible eBook editions.
The editorial team, Kalyanaprabha, Vidyadevi and Priyananda, have been working for the last year on assembling this material and doing the groundwork, which includes gathering together a team of volunteers and freelancers to produce this substantial publication. The volumes will be published in tranches of five or six, over five years, ending in 2021. The first volume in the first tranche will be launched this year on October 14, the 60th anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s conversion to Buddhism. And another four volumes will be launched in April 2017 to coincide with the 50th Anniversary of the founding of the Triratna Buddhist Community. We, and many readers, eagerly await them.
